Steve POV

Natasha called me, she never does when she knows I am with Alexandra and she can avoid it, so I have to return her call.

"I am just checking in on Alexandra. How is she doing?" Natasha asks when I asked what is going on.

"She is holding up. She looks beautiful in that golden dress. Why?"

"I just worry, and she wasn't answering her phone. Sorry to bother you, I will see you all Monday."

"Alright."

When I return to the party she is not on the dance floor or at the table. I walk over to the gigantic bar, but she is not there either.

"I saw her walking out towards the pool." Sharon approaches me. I note the lack of Alistair, but I have my girlfriend to find, so I just nod on her direction and walk towards the exit.

I try to recount in my head how many drinks Alex had, or if Thor might have slip some of that Asgardian liquor. What if she fell in the pool? What if she got sweep away by a wave?

Whatever scenarios I imagined in my head, the one I actually encounter is the most shocking.

I see red. Red red red. It all goes quiet in my head, voice of reason telling me I should pull my punches. My sight zeroes on Alistair, who is holding Alex against him, and he lowers himself and kisses her.

I take him by the the neck of his jacket and my fist makes contact with his jaw so hard it actually hurts me. It takes me back when I had to give it my all to even make the other guy wince.

It's not like that anymore, and Alistair stumbles back.

"I am going to kill you." I hear myself say.

"Steve!" I barely hear Alex shout, but my hands refuse to let him go.

Alistair laughs, spitting blood to the side.

"I wouldn't be concerned with me right now. Look what you did there." He grins like a mad man.

It takes me a whole minute to physically calm down enough to let go of him. When I turn, I don't find Alex standing, she is on the floor at our feet,a pained expression on her face, and her hand holding her left ankle.

"Alex! I am so sorry." I kneel down, forgetting about Alistair.

"It is not what you think Steve." The corner of her eyes glisten with tears.

I panic, I hurt her. I did this.

"Are you hurt?" Is all I care about.

"My ankle twisted. I am fine. Steve... he..." she mumbles, but I don't hear.

I need to get us both out of here. I lift her up in my arms and start to walk away.

I am breathing faster than normal, my heart is also wildly beating. There is a burning feeling I am not familiar with, an ache or itch that needs to be sooth but I am not sure how.

I am uncomfortable feeling like this, because I don't understand it.

I am actually moving without direction, just away from the noise of the party.

"Steve, you can put me down. I am fine." Alex tugs at my shirt.

I keep walking. If I stop I might just go back and finish what I started.
