Danny's PoV
After we grabbed our bags from the car, we went inside and walked up the stairs to Joe's room. Putting our bags on his bed, I turned to go downstairs to greet Joe's parents but he grabbed me softly by the arm.
"Is everything okay at home right now?"
He knew about my parents and their beliefs about homosexuals.
"Yeah, it's just annoying, it seems like they're doing it every night now. I can't be bothered listening to them going on and on about how I'm sinning and I'll never get to go to heaven with the way my life is going. I just wanted to get away from it for a night, so thanks."
Joe smiled a little.
"It's okay, you know you're welcome here whenever. My parents love when you come over so they wouldn't mind. I'm just glad that you're coping well with that, if mine done that with me I would have packed my bags a long time ago and moved into my uncles house." He laughed a little.
"Why would you go to your uncles house?" I questioned and he smirked.
"He's gay so he would be fine with my sexuality, he would probably disown my brother if he ever did anything homophobic!"
I just gaped at the information he told me, James didn't look like the man loving type but I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. That's the only good thing my parents taught me, even though they meant that some people went to church and prayed every Sunday but behind closed doors they done ungodly things. I alway thought this was hypocritical of them as you are supposed to love everyone especially your offspring, but they are repulsed by even the thought of me, their own son. I didn't let it get to me though, they were just like everyone else in the god forsaken town, they all hated me. I even hated me so it wouldn't be long until Joe, Penny, and both of their family's hated me. I was surprised that they had even lasted this long in liking me but it didn't matter, I was just glad they did.

We both returned downstairs and went into the kitchen where we knew Joe's mother, Mrs Graham (Jane, as she so often asked me to call her) was going to be. She loved it in the kitchen, which is why she worked as a chef in one of the fancier restaurants downtown, it was also because she loved cooking for others and doing everything else for others in general. She was the best cook that I knew but every time I told her this she would laugh it off and tell me that I was just saying that to get in her good books. Jane was also one of the nicest people I had ever met, Joe's dad, Charlie being one of the others as well.
"Hey Mrs Graham"
I smiled hello at her.
"Hello dear, now, what have I told you about calling me that, it's Jane!"
She shook her head, smiling at me.
"Sorry... Jane"
It felt weird calling an adult by their first name but she obviously didn't like being called Mrs Graham so I wasn't going to go against her wishes.
"That's better, do you boys want anything to eat right now? The dinner won't be ready for a while and I don't want the two of you to get hungry. James told me that you're staying overnight tonight Danny, do you have clothes for tomorrow? If you don't then you can borrow Joe's. You can stay as long as you like just as long as you do any schoolwork that you've got before Monday."
Mrs... Jane, wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise but I didn't mind, she was overprotective and only wanted the best for her children and the people she cared about.
"I'm not hungry at the moment but if I do get hungry, I'll come and tell you. thank you for offering to let me borrow Joe's clothes but I brought some with me just in case my clothes got wet after swimming. I think I'll just stay for the night because my parents will be wondering if I've ran away"
I smiled at her but inwardly I knew that if they thought that then they would probably have a party to celebrate my leaving. The sides of her lips twitched up into a smile then she turned serious and looked at Joe.
"Are you hungry? I could make your favourite snack for you or there is sweets in the pantry."
Joe sighed and shook his head,
"I'm not hungry, you'd know if I was mum."
She giggled and nodded her head.
"Yes I would."
I smiled at their antics and waved when Joe said that he would see Jane later and walked away to the 'den'.The den was a room that held all of the games consoles and a projector to watch movies on. When we walked in, I didn't realise at first but after a minute I noticed that we weren't alone. James was lying on one of the sofas, fast asleep. He looked so relaxed lying there and I just wanted to stare at him forever but I remembered that that was and extremely creepy thing to do, even if he was adorable lying there with his hair falling over his face in soft waves. Joe then noticed him as well and shouted to wake him up.
"Jamie, wakey-wakey"
I snorted at him but realised that James had woken up when Joe said his name and was looking at me with a soft smile on his face. He had heard me! My face burst into colour and he smirked at me, he knew I was embarrassed and he liked it. I looked away to Joe and he gave me a knowing look, I looked at him confused about what he thought he knew but he smiled and asked what we wanted to do. it sounded like there was a hidden meaning to his words but I just ignored it, I was probably looking too much into it so I just answered him.
"Do you wanna watch a movie?"
He looked at James for confirmation and James just nodded his head.
"What do you want to watch then? We have Netflix and most of the new releases downloaded"
After we chose a movie to watch got everything set up I was about to sit down on the sofa that was free of people but Joe jumped on it before I could and sprawled himself out. The only space left was beside James so I moved over to the other side of the room and was about to sit down when I felt something slid over my ass then it was gone.
________I'm going to try to update more frequently but I have exams throughout the next four weeks and my first one is on Thursday. I'm also going to try and make them longer like this one so there's more to read. I hope you like the chapter and I left it on a cliffhanger so you're going to have to wait for a little while to find out what happens next.
