--_-- Philza

King Philza made his way up the steps and to his room, where he could finally be alone. He was tired and his social battery had been thoroughly drained. He placed a glass of water on the shelf behind his four poster bed, changed into his pajamas, and crawled under the bed's downy covers. He was exhausted and sad. Alone. This bed used to hold two. Stop that, he chided himself. He turned over and buried his face in his pillow.
From his left came the sliding of a door followed by a gust of freezing air. Philza went still. Footsteps, as soft as snowflakes made their journey towards his bed. Somebody had come into his room from the balcony. That's not good.
Phil braced himself, if he was quick he might be able to roll to the other side of the bed and grab his dagger off the shelf right behind the bed. He just had to wait for the right moment. He peeked his eyes open just enough to see a dark figure had walked around to his side of the bed.
It was holding something in front of it's hooded face. Silver shone in the dim moonlight as it raised the knife above it's head. It struck. Philza rolled out of the way just barely fast enough to avoid the attack, reaching his hand onto the shelf and grabbing his own dagger by the hilt while he got up. The figure seemed surprised that Phil had been awake, which made sense considering how late it was. Phil took the second of surprise for his advantage, he jumped out of his bed on the opposite side of his attacker. The assassin got over his surprise and pulled his knife out of the mattress.
   "GUARDS!!!" Phil yelled out.

  --_-- Tech

Shit. Tech thought this would just be a quick in and out job - use the potions to get up the wall, kill the King, and leave. He was not expecting him to be awake. Christ! It's almost two in the morning! Who stays up this long? Well, besides him, but why was the King awake? Ok, just make this job really, really quick.
Tech jumped up on the bed. Time to dance fucker.

--_-- Philza

The assailant sprung on to Philza's bed. They're not going to just charge right at me, are they? That's what it seemed like they were going to do. They began to run. Phil backed up as the figure jumped off the bed and threw the knife. The assassin's knife flew past Phil's ear, but their foot landed straight on Philza's chest, throwing him to the floor with the assailant still on top of him. Phil's neck narrowly missed landing on the assassin's knife hilt. Philza's dagger had slid across the room, not that it would help much anyways, as he could barely see straight. The wind had been knocked out of him and he was seeing stars. There was banging at the door the assassin looked over as the door busted open. The guards had kicked in the door, the assailant ran, picking up their knife and the King's dagger as they went. The guards couldn't stop them before they got out the doors and jumped off the balcony.

Phil stared at the closed doors where the shadowy stranger had disappeared. Who was that? Why would anyone want to kill him? How did they bypass the gate and climb the wall? How did they jump off and not die? How did they navigate through the heavy snow?
Phil didn't like where this was going. If they had put so much effort into one attack then they probably wouldn't give up there. Philza and his family were in danger. He needed more guards and to keep his sons inside the palace walls.

Fun Fact! At the part where I wrote -Philza went still- I was so tempted to put Phil went still or Philza went Stillza. I was laughing at that for a bit.
