The moonlight shines down as the frosty breeze blows through my fur. I walk stealthily through the forest, occasionally stopping to scent the air for prey. But I have no means of hunting tonight. I think to myself as I climb onto boulders. I get to the top and I see the whole forest, awake and alive. "I wish this moment could last forever." I shake my head clearing myself of the thought. "Of course it couldn't." I lay on the rocks gazing up at the stars lighting up the night sky alongside the moon. "Nice night isn't it." Rea says as she flops down onto her stomach. She looks at me questioningly. "What's on your mind?" She says. At first I shake my head but then decide I should tell her. "I'm thinking of joining the Striker tribe. I know what mother and father have said about being a tribe wolf but I feel as though I meant to be with them." I whisper. "I agree. I was going to leave tomorrow.. I came here to tell you so you wouldn't be worried. Except, I'm joining the Stellar River tribe, you could come to if you wanted." She said happily. I simply nod my head and fall asleep.
Morning comes fast. I hear Rea telling me to get up, but I can't hear what else she's saying. I feel a stone hit my muzzle and I'm quickly on my feet. I open my mouth to speak but she stops me. "Hush, mother and father a looking for us. We have to go now." She whispers. And we're off, running out of the clearing into the forest. We slow our pace, creeping silently through the undergrowth. Rea signals silently for me to take the lead. We travel further and further away from our former home, and I'm kind of glad we did. Rea runs ahead into a nearby clearing and captures a bird. I run into the clearing, the tall grass grazing my underbelly while the wind blow into my fur. We both share the bird, but I give her the most of it. Rae lays there silently basking in the sun. Wonder what's on her mind.
As sunset comes we are still laying in the clearing hidden by the tall grass. Can I really join Stellar River tribe? It's been my dream to join Striker tribe for the longest time. I gaze at Rea, blue her eyes closed. I shift closer to her and rest my head on my paws. "Premier." She says. "Yes" I reply. "You aren't coming with me to the Stellar River tribe, are you?" I sigh and respond. "I-I I can't. I've been dreaming of joining the Striker tribe since I was young." When I look at Rea, I see understanding in her eyes. "We separate at morning alight?" She suggests. Again I nod agreeing with her. And for that night we lay there for the last time together as siblings.
