Every day was a constant routine for Snowball. Each day was another pain, another guilt, another mistake. He could feel the weight on his chest every day. It felt like he was on autopilot all day. Snowball had friends, but lately, he hasn't been talking to them at all. Everyone was a bit worried, but they all shrugged it off as Snowball simply just running out of social battery. But this kind of behavior has been going on for days. The one who was the most worried was Blocky, and for a good reason.
Around a week ago, when Snowball invited him over to play video games, Snowball went to make popcorn. Blocky, being Blocky, decided to snoop around a little bit. That's when he saw it. There was a calendar with all of the months ripped out except one, which was November, the current month. There was a certain day circled, the 19th, and Blocky could remember it clearly. The rest of the page after that was ripped off. Blocky decided to just put it back and pretend that he just didn't see it.
That was a huge mistake.
On the 19th, Snowball wasn't in any of his classes. He just suddenly went missing.
Blocky looked everywhere, panicking. The last place that he checked was the rooftop.
Snowball was sitting against a pillar with his earbuds in. He was smiling as the final bell rang, and watched as the multitude of kids fled the school. It was a Friday, so it was more crowded than usual. Blocky shakily sighed, relieved. He walked up to Snowball and lightly tapped him on the shoulder. Snowball yelped as he jumped, startled.
"Wh- what the- what are you doing here?!" Snowball questioned. He seemed a bit upset.
"Oh, I was worried cus' I couldn't find ya anywhere. I'm glad you're safe, though," Blocky replied, smiling.
"Oh."
"Why are you up here?"
Snowball gasped softly, "I-I uh, didn't feel like going to class."
"Then why didn't you leave? Why are you up here?" Blocky asked once again, increasingly becoming more and more worried. Snowball's chest tightened, at a complete loss for words. He just stared at Blocky.
"I-I uh. I-" Snowball mustered out before he completely broke down, sobbing as tears streamed down his face and dripped down onto the concrete floor.
"I-I just can't do this anymore."
Blocky immediately embraced him, hugging him tight as he caressed his back. His shoulder was already soaked.
"I- I'm s-sorry," Snowball choked out. Blocky shook his head. "No, it's okay. I promise, whatever you're going through, I will try my absolute best to help you." Snowball looked up at him, the tears beginning to stop. "R- really?" "Mhm."
"O-okay."
Blocky smiled as he gently helped Snowball up, whose legs were shaking. He put his shoulder around Snowball, who immediately melted into the warm and unfamiliar touch.
They both walked down the stairs.
"Do... Do you wanna come to my house, and try to distract yourself?" Blocky asked, looking over at his friend. "Mhm," Snowball replied, nervously biting at his lip.
The two arrived at Blocky's house, Blocky taking out his house key and unlocking the front door. His parents weren't home, as per usual. Snowball stared at his feet as he could feel his chest tighten once more. "Blocky?" "Hmm?" "C-can we, uh, cuddle?" Snowball asked, but he immediately regretted it. Blocky smiled as he nodded, taking the other boy's hand into his own. Snowball could feel how warm Blocky's hands were, compared to his cold ones.
Blocky guided Snowball to his room, still holding his hand and smiling. They both climbed into the bed, and Snowball buried his head into the crook of Blocky's neck as Blocky played with his soft hair.
Snowball felt... safe. He couldn't exactly describe it, but he knew it was a good feeling. A great one, even.
"Blocky?"
"Yeah?"
"I think... I think I like you? I don't know. You make me feel really good and I don't know how to describe it? I might be in love with you but feelings are... hard for me and stuff," Snowball started to ramble, "I've felt like this towards you for like, a really long fucking time. I feel really selfish and stupid and I just want... I want you to understand my feelings, but you can't even do that if I don't understand my own feelings. How do I learn about myself? Every day I'm losing myself more and more, and I just... I just really, really like you. I think I love you."
Blocky gasped, and then smiled. He once again took Snowball's hand into his own, but this time he intertwined his fingers with the other boy's.
"I love you too."
