Pole position

After a good talk with Christian, I was back in the car. 

 "Only 10 seconds till green light, it's going to be a rolling start behind the safety car. The safety car will leave after one lap. Let's get them" Jasper said.

"Copy" I said.

I was behind Leclerc. Still in P3, I was hoping to stay in P3. Then I could be on the podium and I would prove people wrong.

Green light. 

I pressed the gas pedal and drove away from the pits, it was raining quite badly and wets were needed. 

I was finding my way on the track, but everyone was struggling, except for Max of course. He is a beast in the rain. 

Getting heat in the tires was a difficult job, but I managed to get them ready for the restart. 

"Safety car ending" Jasper said.

"Copy" I said looking in my mirrors to see what Sainz was up to. He was waving a lot and I was hoping he had issues with getting his tires warm. 

Max was leading the pack and I was still behind Leclerc, wanting to stay as close as possible but I also needed to watch out for Sainz. 

I saw that Max drove away and I pressed the gas pedal, Sainz had an off start so I focused on Leclerc. 

The track was wet wet, I struggled but so did Leclerc. 

So I took a risk and dive boomed the first corner, we were side by side and I had more grip so I had the better exit. 

I was driving away, my tires were getting better while the track was getting worse. P2.

I had some maxplaining and now I knew the tricks when driving in rain. 

"Good job, gap is increasing. Right now 0.5" Jasper said. 

"Copy" I said looking in m mirrors I saw the red car getting further away. 

"What is the gap to Max?" I asked.

"2.4" 

What the fuck the man is a beast. 

"Can I push?" I asked, the wets wore off really quickly and I hoped it would stop raining in a few laps so I could get the best times. 

"Yes" Jasper said. 

The track was getting dryer, the rain was getting less but it was still here and after 8 more laps I got closer to Max. 

I stayed behind him, knowing we were going to pit soon and it was better if there was a few seconds in between us. 

Max and I were catching up with slow drivers but for some reason I couldn't get past the haas. 

"Why is he defending?" I complained. 

"We are looking into it, stay put" Jasper said. 

I was getting very annoyed, I was getting slower and Leclerc was getting closer. 

"Okay, box this lap. Plan C" Jasper told me. 

Plan C was as followed: inters for as long as needed and if the rain kept coming we would box again for interns, but if it would stop we would go for mediums hoping to finish the race on this tire. 

I boxed and because of the Haas, Max and I were further apart. That was better for the pit crew but not for us. 

I drove back onto the circuit and the Haas was long gone, Leclerc and Sainz, didn't box but the rest did so I was back on P4 still behind Max.
