A/N: Thank you so much to everyone who's reading this and giving likes and comments! Here is the next part, it's not all that exciting, but it does shed light to Jess and Cav's friendship a bit more!
Jess was roused from her sleep by a soft knock coming at her door.
"Jess? I have to leave for the airport," Cavan said through the door.
She groaned and peeled her eyes open. "You can come in," she called out.
Cavan stepped inside and went to her bed. "I didn't want to wake you, but I know you wanted to say goodbye."
Jess looked over at him and smiled. She reached out a hand and Cavan sat next to her.
"How do you feel?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm fine," she replied and pushed herself onto her elbows. "Just tired."
Cavan nodded. "Okay, good."
Jess frowned. "Oh, gosh, I didn't do anything terrible, did I?"
"Define terrible," he replied with a smirk.
She smacked his thigh. "Seriously. I remember it all, but... How bad was I? Did I embarrass the shit out of myself?" She knew she had a tendency to hide her shyness and insecurities with alcohol when given the opportunity. She wasn't proud of it, but she'd been that way since her first year in college when there were residence parties every weekend. It had become a habit, one she wanted to break.
Cavan shrugged and smiled. "You drunkenly played pool with the guys—you're terrible at it by the way."
"Gee, thanks." She rolled her eyes.
Cavan chuckled. "Then you and Bo played darts. Well, failed at playing darts."
Jess glared.
"But no, you didn't embarrass yourself," he said honestly. "Everyone was a bit drunk, and the guys loved you, by the way."
"Really?" she asked skeptically. That had never been her experience.
Cavan nodded. "Yeah, really. You're quite lovable, you know." He reached out and pinched her cheek gently.
She swatted his hand away.
"George said you should join us for drinks all the time," Cavan told her. "Vladdy thinks you're hilarious, and Espi just kept saying you're pretty. He gets a bit... affectionate when drinking."
Jess's cheeks warmed. She pushed her hair back. "And Bo?" she asked after a moment.
"Bo texted me after you and I got home saying you were his new best friend." Cavan smirked and shrugged. "So, I think you've been accepted into the group."
Jess smiled softly. It would take her a little while before she felt as comfortable around them as she did when she drank. And there were still lots of guys on the team whom she hadn't spent time with. Still, it was a start.
Cavan checked his phone. "I really should be going... I'll call you when we land."
"Okay." She smiled and sat up fully to give him a hug. "I've missed you."
He held her. "I've missed you, too, Jessie."
Cavan pulled away and gave her a soft smile. "My place better not be trashed by the time I get back."
Jess laughed. "Our place now," she corrected. "And I would never do such a thing."
He smirked and stood. "If you want to watch the games, the TV has the channels all set up."
