Bo led Jess up the stairs of his townhouse and glanced at her. "I'm warning you, Santi and I didn't have a chance to clean the place."
She smiled at him. "I don't mind, really. You've seen Cav and I's place."
Bo chuckled. "I suppose, but our place doesn't have a feminine touch like you've given to Cav's."
Jess shrugged. "I could spruce up the place if you want."
Bo laughed again and unlocked the door. Jess was helping him set up for a party. The party had been her idea, after all, saying they should celebrate for Canada Day slash Independence Day. They had two days off before they went down to Florida for a series against the Marlins, and Jess was joining them this time around. It was the perfect time for a party, so Bo had offered to host.
Santiago was going to join them later with supplies, but Bo thought he'd go home early and start cleaning up. Jess had offered to help, insisting that it would only be fair since Bo'd offered his place for the party to take place at.
Bo opened the door, extending a hand. "Ladies first."
She flashed him a smile. "Such a gentleman."
Bo grinned and followed her inside.
"It's nice," she said with a smile, looking around the foyer to the large kitchen.
"Thanks." He took off his shoes. "Can I take your coat?"
Jess smiled wider and shrugged off her jacket. "Holding the door open and taking my jacket? What, are we on a date or something?"
Bo chuckled as he hung up her jacket in the closet. "I just want to be a good host."
She thanked him as she took her shoes off. She wandered out of the foyer and looked around before making her way into the living room. She went straight to the bookshelf.
Bo laughed fondly and followed her after taking his shoes off, too. "You've been here less than five minutes and you already found my books."
She looked back at him with a smile. "They called to me."
He smirked and shook his head. "Uh huh. See any you like?"
Jess ran her fingers across the spines, the paperbacks and hardcovers. Her fingers stilled over a poetry collection. "You read poetry?"
Bo shrugged. "My mom gave it to me."
She took it out and smiled. It contained the poems of many of the classic poets: Wordsworth, Dickinson, Wittman, and Shakespeare.
"You can borrow it if you want," Bo told her, seeing the excitement in her eyes.
Jess smiled wider. "Thank you. Are you sure?"
Bo smiled. "Positive."
She held it close to her chest. "Okay, so where do we want to have the party? In here?"
Bo shook his head and nodded towards a doorway. He led her through the dining room and into the kitchen where a closed door sat off to the side. "I thought we could do it in the backyard. We have some patio furniture and some chairs and tables we can bring out. But I would like to just tidy up this level anyway."
