CHAPTER 28

"You wouldn't believe what just happened Aurora." Antonio exclaimed, he looked frustrated and scared at the same time.

"What happened??" I asks.

"Alberto pulled out of the contract, he said he would not continue the project." He stated.

"What do you mean? What is the reason?" I asked.

"That's something I clearly doesn't know, I'll ask Matteo to investigate on it." He replied.

Our conversation ended as I went to my room. I'm so confused on how did he just pulled out of the project suddenly, something is really happening. It's not about Alberto, it's probably someone else. I get my phone and dial Arnaldo's number.

"Ms. McKay." He spoke.

"Investigate about Alberto Cortez's Company, I need it as soon as possible." I spoke then quickly ended the call.

I felt like someone is watching me, us. And it's not fun anymore. I'm thinking about Khalil, he's getting suspicious. He's out all the time, and the fact that he's the only one who knew about my secret makes me think about it more. He's the one who holds business which does connect to Alberto and the companies project, but I won't put up a word unless it is proven.

As of now, the only thing I could hold on is the things that I noticed. The phone call Antonio received, it was an unknown person. Which doesn't makes sense if it's really Khalil because he was with us when that man called the second time telling that I should be scared of him. Does he think I'll be scared of someone who doesn't even have the guts to use his own voice.

One thing in my mind was why should I be scared? If that person doesn't have the balls to reveal his voice or moreover his identity, why would I be scared of his threat. Things didn't turn out as I planned but y'know what, I guess I should just expect the unexpected.

I just sleep for awhile to relax my mind, I get up and quickly took a shower. It's already time for dinner so I went downstairs, I saw them casually talking to each other. I sat on my usual spot but someone seems to be missing.

"Where's Fred and Khalil?" I ask taking some mashed potatoes and shove it to my mouth.

"Oh they went to buy something." Anderson spoke.

We all ate our dinner peacefully but then suddenly Antonio spoke.
"There's a big transaction that will happen tomorrow. I know it's a sudden announcement but we really need to be careful with this since it has tons of stuff. I'll meet y'all at the conference room after 30 minutes." Antonio announced then got up and left the room.

After awhile we all went to the conference room and take our seats as per usual. Khalil and Fred are already there as well. Antonio looks a bit odd as if he's scared of something.

"We've been receiving tons of threats and it's not so cute anymore. Many transactions were already sabotaged by someone who is still anonymous." He spoke as his jaw thickens. We're getting serious now.

"Maybe it's just some Gang, just like before." Matteo said sarcastically and gained death stare from Antonio.

"Well that's quite alarming isn't it? I mean, if Black empire is the most powerful Mafia in the world then who the fuck will have the guts to do those?" Fred then suddenly spoke which we all turn to look at him. He didn't fail to surprise me.

"That made sense, I'm thinking of the person who called you last day Antonio, didn't he threatened me? What if it's him who's behind all of this things?" I spoke.

"Maybe, but we still need to investigate further, I want you all to make your steps about this, do anything you can to know who's behind these sabotages. And be prepare for the upcoming transaction, I know they will be there too so we will remind them who have the power, and we're not scared with those piece of shits." Antonio spoke loudly.

"Other than that, everyone is dismissed." He ended.

I walk towards him and ask if I will be part of it since it seems like that anonymous person and the one who's behind the sabotages are just the same person it meant that I'm clearly involved with this so I'll give everything I could such as helping them with the tasks.

"You said you're not doing anything related to this work Aurora, and I do respect that. And you already received threats so I wouldn't be able to let anyone harm you." He spoke as he caressed my cheek.

"Oh Antonio, you know I have one word but in this case I wouldn't let myself stock up in this house while on the other side, everyone works. And I have a lot of experience so you guys needed me a lot." I said raising my eyebrow.

"Well I cannot compete with you so I guess sure. But you need to stick with me okay? I can't bear to lose you anymore." He spoke while I stare to his eyes.

"God this crazy man really can't leave without this sarcastic woman huh?" I said as I cup his face and squeeze it.

"Well that's what love does, it made me crazy." He stated. I felt something that I am unsure of.
I didn't know what to say so I stayed silent which earned a deep sigh from him.

"It's okay Aurora, I do understand it." He said.

"I'm a bit sleepy, goodnight Antonio." I spoke then quickly left the room.

"Goodnight!" I heard him shout.

I enter my room and jump to my bed and press my face on my pillow and shout at the top of my lungs. Am I in love or am I just scared to be so attached to him other than being friends. But at the same time, I'll admit that I like him though friends should only be friends. This is so hard, but I need to disregard my feelings and focus on what's happening right now.
After a while I felt tired and fell in a deep slumber.

Antonio pov•

"You said you're not doing anything related to this work Aurora, and I do respect that. And you already received threats so I wouldn't be able to let anyone harm you." I spoke as I caressed her cheek.

"Oh Antonio, you know I have one word but in this case I wouldn't let myself stock up in this house while on the other side, everyone works. And I have a lot of experience so you guys needed me a lot." She said, raising her eyebrow. Oh this woman can't take a no for an answer? Stubborn.

"Well I cannot compete with you so I guess, sure. But you need to stick with me okay? I can't bear to lose you anymore." I spoke while we both stared at each other's eyes, her brown mesmerizing eyes made me hypnotise, I wished I could stare at it a bit longer.

"God this crazy man really can't leave without this sarcastic woman  huh?" She said, cupping my face and squeezed it.

"Well that's what love does, it made me crazy." I stated. My stomach feels like it has every single butterfly, making my heart beats so fast. But then, she said nothing and I sighed heavily.

"It's okay Aurora, I do understand it." I said. I know she doesn't feel the same way but I'm Antonio, I get what I want. And my heart aches for her. I would definitely die for her.

"I'm a bit sleepy, goodnight Antonio." She spoke then quickly left the room.

"Goodnight!" I shouted.

I went upstairs and saw her enter her room, I went to my room and took a cold shower. My mind can't erase those brown eyes. This crazy man is really crazy.
