Ethan's POV

Maybe it wold be best if no one saw me again

The harsh words echoed around in my head again and again as I stormed through the castle with hot tears blurring my vision. I've never felt this upset before. It made me sick to the stomach. How could Mark do this to me? Why did it have to be like this? Why did he have to be King?
An unbelievable amount of sadness and anger took over me, clouding my mind from any source of logic.
I didn't know where I was to go. All I knew was that I needed to get out of there.
I ended up outside of the castle. I ran to the stables and grabbed the nearest horse. I've only ridden a handful of times. I didn't need to be an expert at it though. I just needed to get out of here. I climbed onto a horse that was dark as night and took off as fast as it would take me.

Mark POV

I paced the room running my hands through my hair. My mind was spinning and my heart was beating a million miles per second. Maybe I should go after him. Or...should I give him space? What if he doesn't want to talk me ever again. Oh, Ethan, I'm so sorry I hurt you. I wish there was a way for us to be together...

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard a loud cry of a horse, followed by guards shouting and the loud thuds of hooves galloping away. I quickly went to the window to see what all the commotion was about. To my surprise, it was Ethan riding away on a black horse. I stared in shock as the horse took him through the rose garden and into an empty field before I could blink.

Everything but Ethan left my mind in that moment. Nothing else mattered. I had to stop him.
Without a second thought I took off as fast as my legs would carry me. The long hallways and flights of stairs felt like they had stretched to twice their size. I ran until I was at the stables, ignoring the shouts and questions of the guards as I climbed on top of a white horse. "YAH!" I Shouted. My horse took off through the rose garden and into the field after Ethan.

I urged it to go faster until I spotted Ethan again. He was a mere spec but I was catching up fast. "Ethan!" I shouted out. But he either didn't hear me or was ignoring me. I continued to speed the horse up with all my might trying to catch up. My heart pounded in my ears louder than the hooves hitting the dirt.

"Ethan!" I cried out again when he was just 15 feet away. But his horse only picked up speed. I cursed to myself and did my best to get closer to him to no avail.

We started to approach the forest. A rather big tree that was tipped over cut off the field from the woods. I expected Ethan to slow down, at least to try turning his horse to go around, but he didn't. My eyes widened with fear when I realized he was going to try jumping the thing. He's jumped things on a horse with me before, but nothing as big as that.

"ETHAN!" I shouted in desperation. But not a moment later Ethan reached the tree. He tried getting the horse to jump but instead the horse let out a cry in protest and rose up onto its hind legs, throwing Ethan off. "NO!" I screamed as Ethan fell and crashed onto the ground. I halted my own horse to a stop as soon as I reached him and practically flew off of it trying to get to him as quickly as possible. He laid unresponsive. I fell to my knees beside him and picked his head up. "Ethan! Ethan, please wake up!". I felt something wet on my hand and pulled it away to see blood. The back of his head was bleeding. Then I noticed the blood on the big rocks next to him. "No" I whispered tearing up. I watched his blood slowly drip down the sharp rocks. This can't be happening. No. I can't lose him. "No, no, no, Ethan stay with me dammit!" I needed to get help, and fast. I slid my arms underneath him and picked him up carefully. I carried him over to my horse. With all my strength I climbed back on and held him as tightly as I could as I made my way back to the kingdom.
