hey diluc, if you're watching me write this, do you remember when i left? how did you feel? did you even care? i remember wanting to confess to you before i left but i was too scared to do so but then again, you were a calvary captain for the almighty knights so you most likely wouldn't have wanted to be with me even if i tried to say anything. i never realised how much you meant to me until i was asked to go to inazuma and left without you. i thought that maybe moving on and just working away the grief would help and it did. but only for a short while.

Third Person POV

"diluc! wait up!" thoma yelled as he ran after diluc who was just leaving the knights of favonius headquarters. thoma had been waiting for diluc to finally leave so they could walk around mondstadt and chat for a while.

"oh? thoma! what are you doing here?"

"ah, i just wanted to invite you out on a walk with me since we haven't talked in a while and i've missed you.. a lot." thoma said as he stood in front of diluc with a smile plastered on his face. diluc chuckled and covered his mouth as he laughed. he thought that thoma looked quite adorable and appreciated the invite so he graciously accepted which made thoma's smile even wider. thoma wished he could describe the amount of euphoria that diluc gave him because to thoma, he was an angel.

"yay! great! let's go to windrise then, we have a lot to talk about!" thoma grabbed diluc's hand and began to run as diluc straggled along behind. they ran through mondstadt and pushed pass people as they eventually made it to windrise still hand in hand without realising it. diluc looked up at the tree as thoma pulled him along to the base of the tree. thoma sat down, letting go of diluc's hand as a small blush spread across his face. diluc then leaned against the tree, sighing as he shut his eyes. he too was flustered but kept his calm and collected composure.

"so, how's it been at the knights?"
diluc slid down the tree as he thought of a way to respond as he plopped down next to thoma. "it's been a mess and i don't want to drag you into it but apparently the abyss order has been attacking again and a few other big things are happening but i won't worry you with it." diluc crossed his arms. thoma nodded and just stayed quiet as he looked at the boy next to him. he didn't want to say anything so he let out a small "mhm" as he felt his heart race. the soft glowing sun gently hit diluc's pale skin, giving him an angelic type of glow to him. his crimson hair was tied half up and half down with a long black ribbon tied in a bow. and with his bangs softly flowing with the wind, lord barbatos must've blessed this evening for thoma as he tried not to stare, causing him to quickly look away.

"thoma? why did you want to talk? surely you weren't simply asking just to talk about my job." thoma sighed, he knew he'd hate to tell his best friend but he had to. "i'm going on a trip for a month or two to inazuma. i need to go with my family to meet my father there since he's been in inazuma for a while." diluc immediately snapped his head to face the blonde boy who was looking in his own lap. "do you have to go..?" diluc felt selfish asking and he regretted asking, yet he said it anyways. he'd do the same thing for his father, so why is he wishing for thoma to stay..?

"i'm sorry diluc, i have to go. he's my dad, i can't just let my family go without me."

diluc grimaced and sighed, he knew he would be too busy to see thoma anyways so he just nodded. "well then, if that's all, stay safe." thoma looked over at diluc as diluc had stood up and stretched slightly, preparing to go.

"when will you be leaving?"

"tomorrow at 8am."

"right, i will see you off tomorrow. goodnight thoma." diluc said sternly as he walked off into the direction of the dawn winery. thoma watched him leave and felt tears cloud his vision for he felt as if diluc was upset and that was the last thing that the poor boy wanted. he slowly stood up and let his tears fall as he walked back to the secure walls of mondstadt with the sun setting in the distance.

the water shone beneath the soft glow of the pale moonlight as thoma leaned against his arms that were place upon the bridge. he had snuck out in the middle of the night as a way to clear his mind for he couldn't sleep knowing that he had upset the closest person to him but that was inevitable. wasn't it? eventually, after staring out at the water and letting the cool breeze flow by, thoma fell sleepy and sluggishly walked back to his house and soon fell fast asleep atop his bed.

morning came quickly and thoma rushed to get ready, he wanted to be there as quick as possible so he could be there before diluc would arrive. he soon met everyone at the carriage but refused to leave until he wished diluc goodbye.

08:00. no sign of diluc

08:12. kaeya walks into the gates. no sign of diluc.

08:20. still nothing.

08:25. thoma saw a familiar red head in the distance and ran towards him. "diluc! are you okay?!" thoma exclaimed as he examined his friend. diluc looked very pale and his eyes were puffy as if he had been crying for a while or something but he brushed it off as not getting enough sleep. yet, that only left thoma even more worried than before.

"i'll be okay, you have a safe trip to liyue and then inazuma, okay? i'll be waiting for your return." diluc's lips formed a small smile and thoma hugged him tightly, on the verge of crying.

"i'm gonna miss you luc.."
"i'll miss you too thoma."

diluc watched the carriage leave as he waved goodbye and then walked to the knights of favonius headquarters as a certain blonde girl waited for his arrival.

"cmon 'luc'~ hurry up!" jean yelled as diluc climbed the stairs and walked to the front doors slowly. diluc immediately straightened himself and woke himself up properly. he simply walked past jean and into the headquarters, not batting an eye as he passed her.

"don't call me that."
