i remember that summer day. the day i met you. we were only young but i swore that you were an angel in my eyes. your kind aura and gentleness really stuck out to me on that day. you really haven't changed all that much since we first met, have you? sometimes i think back to it all and realise how much i really loved you but couldn't say anything. why must fate shatter our only hopes of being loved? i wish i had the words to describe how much you impacted my life in all the most positive ways possible. i think back on how we met and how we ended and i really wish that i said so much more to you, diluc.

{a/n: this story will change from thoma's pov and third person pov. i forgot to mention that.}

"cmon! let's go play hide or seek! you don't want to be a party pooper luc!!" kaeya said as he chuckled and ran outside. the sun beamed over the winery, the grapes smelling as fresh as ever, the crystalflies glistening in the sunlight. it was a beautiful day, indeed. diluc ran after kaeya and soon jumped onto his back, expecting kaeya to catch him but didn't go to plan, causing kaeya to fall over.

"diluc, try not to crush your brother, hm? shouldn't you be training anyways?" diluc sighed softly and stood up before helping up kaeya and apologising. he knew his father was right but he didn't want to train today yet, crepus knew that but simply walked back inside the winery. he simply trusted that diluc would. diluc went to go back inside to grab his claymore when kaeya grabbed diluc's hand and ran with him into some of the surrounding forest area. "cmon luc! we can play hide and seek in here!" kaeya exclaimed as a way to help diluc clear his mind.

kaeya faced one of the trees and began counting quickly to 60 which gave diluc absolutely no time to hide yet he was determined to win. as he found a hiding spot he crouched and covered his mouth in an attempt to slow down his breathing. "60!! ready or not, here i come!" kaeya yelled as he eagerly began finding his brother. diluc quietly giggled after hearing kaeya's footsteps running around him. after some time, kaeya began to get tired but he couldn't find his brother anywhere until he heard a small shriek. he quickly sped up and went over to inspect the noise when he saw his brother with a small blonde boy.

"are you okay?" diluc said as he eyed the blonde boy for any injuries but the boy refused to answer. "ah, you're wounded. would you like to come to my house? it's not too far and we can get you treated! you can even have some of the cookies that adelinde baked! they're the best." diluc whispered that last part and the blonde boy's eyes widened as he quickly nodded. the boy had never met anyone so kind in his life but maybe he shouldn't have accepted this offer.. he was only really thinking of the free cookies..

kaeya ran over and huffed. "diluc! where were you? and who is this?" diluc carefully placed the boy's arm around his shoulder, try to make sure that the boy wasn't hurting himself too much with the gash on his knee. "it was hide and seek and you didn't find me so i win. besides, we need to quickly get back home to look after him." and so, they hurried home. luckily, diluc knew this area like the back of his hand.

once they arrived back, kaeya informed adelinde of what happened and she quickly grabbed the first aid kit as diluc left the blonde boy and kaeya on the bench outside before he came out moments later with the jar of cookies and some water, offering them to the boy.

adelinde quickly began cleaning his wound before questioning this mysterious boy. "now, what's your name?" she asked the once frightened boy who was now content as he shoved another cookie into his mouth. "..foma" he replied with his mouth full. "you can't talk with your mouth full, silly! that's not very good manners." diluc joked as he stood next to adelinde, who had just finished bandaging "foma's" knee.

"my name is thoma, i'm from the city but got lost out here after being chased by some hilichurls." he frowned and looked at his hands in his lap. the poor boy was so scared but kaeya placed his hand on thoma's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.

"well thoma, we can take you back to the city! my father is going soon so we can all go find your family!" kaeya exclaimed as his brother eagerly nodded. thoma had the widest smile on his face. he was so excited to go home and was extremely happy to have stumbled upon such lovely people. he hoped to barbatos that these people weren't lying and that they weren't going to hurt him. "well then, i shall tell your father and prepare the carriage." adelinde said as she walked off. thoma sighed in relief as he felt a little at ease knowing that he may be going home safe and sound.

as they arrived in the city shortly after, the boys immediately got out and looked around, getting excited about being in such a bustling place. although the brothers are in the city every month, it's still a refreshing change. the towering buildings, the sweet aroma of flowers and freshly cooked food flooded the city as the wind blew through. people talked and laughed and children played around, there were also a mixture of calming lullabies played by the bards that flowed through the gentle breeze. oh how they all cherished every moment they spent in the humbling walls of mondstadt.

"alright boys, stay safe. it was lovely meeting you thoma. now, you two meet me back at angel's share by sun down, okay?" crepus asked sternly. kaeya and diluc nodded and thoma waved before crepus walked off. during the carriage ride and even before that, the boys had all gotten quite close. to say the least, thoma was quite glad to have some new friends!

"shall we go then? i want you two to meet my mother and father!" thoma excitedly said as the other two nodded and followed thoma to a house, presumably his. he knocked on the door and waited as his father opened the door. "thoma! you're back, how was it out there? oh, who are these two?"
