Prologue

Y/n Henderson hadn't been to Hawkins since she was five. A lot had changed since then...
Her younger brother Dustin was born, they built a mall, a supernatural reality had been discovered along with a young girl who has telekinetic abilities but must be kept a secret due to the life threatening risks caused by those of Hawkins lab,
and you know some other crazy shit.

Her father had made the decision to leave Claudia and Hawkins for reasons including, but not limited to, Claudia's love for cats and his allergy to the furry felines.
He truly has always wanted what was best for his daughter. And if he felt that she should attend a private school in a larger town, then by God he would pack up their things and move. He had planned on leaving anyway and moving to Auburn. There was a need for attorneys at a law firm there and also a great boarding school.
Y/n was quite sad to have to leave her mom. She would miss her and the town that she had spent the first five years of her life in and although she enjoyed spending time with her father he was often busy with work and wasn't always the most emotionally available.
Throughout her years of studying at boarding school she stayed in touch with her mother. They wrote to each other as often as possible.
Shortly after y/n moved with her dad she received a letter from her mom stating that she was going to have a baby brother. Y/n's father was not thrilled to hear that Claudia was pregnant; however, he was not with her anymore, so it wasn't much of his business. Neither him nor her ever brought up Dustin when speaking with one another-which didn't occur often anyway. He didn't like that y/n kept her mother's last name. He believed that since she lived with him she needed to have his last name.
Y/n longed to be back in Hawkins with her mom and brother. Auburn and the boarding school never truly felt like home to her. Sure she had made a few friends, but none of them were super close. She spent many days alone. She found her comfort in movies. Going to the theater as often as possible.
She made a promise to her father when she was just about twelve years old. She would finish school and graduate. By then she would be 18. [sorry if you aren't 18 yet when you graduate. Uh just pretend]
As soon as she was all done with school she was allowed to move back to Hawkins. She couldn't wait to see her family. She wrote to her mother asking about Dustin, but she was informed that although she knows every little detail about him that Claudia told her, he doesn't even know she exists.

I am so happy to be writing again! Hopefully I don't get super bad writer's block and lose motivation as soon as I start the story because that has happened in the past. Also note that I haven't written in like forever. If you notice any grammatical or spelling errors feel free to comment so I can make adjustments and corrections, but above all, please be nice!:)
