ONE LAST TIME

"Life goes on"(pt4)

(In the courtroom)

Before the judge came in, me and Mr Arthur revised his fundamental rights as that's what every lawyer should do.

Attorney Lucas stood, walked up to the judge and said "Your honour, Mr Arthur has attempted to sexually assault Ms Zhoe, my client, in the name of work. According to Penal code section 240 simple assault under the criminal laws of California I request the court to give suitable punishment to Mr Arthur.

The judge then asked if the accused pleaded guilty or not guilty.

"Your honor, my client pleads not guilty". I said.

Lucas rose from his position and said, "I call Miss Zhoe, my client, to the stands". A young woman with brown hair, green eyes walked up to the stand.

"Miss Zhoe, could you tell me everything that happened on 29th of April 2019" Lucas asked her.

"I went to work that day. I was supposed to submit the project proposal to Mr Arthur so I had to work overtime. While we were discussing the project, he started touching me inappropriately. I begged him to stop, he said that he would terminate me if I didn't cooperate. However, I got lucky. Laura, my colleague, had seen everything, she came and took me away." cried Miss Zhoe.

I wouldn't be surprised if she had won the oscars. That's how great her acting was.

The judge then said, "Attorney Lucas please present your evidence."

Ms Laura, the witness, was called to the stands. Laura made the sworn testimony. "I swear that the evidence that I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me god" She swore. We then proceeded with the trail.

"Miss Laura, please explain what you saw that night," said Lucas.

"I saw Mr Arthur touching Zhoe against her will, Zhoe was

begging him to stop. I acted as if I didn't see anything and took Zhoe with me." Explained Laura.

"That's all your honor" concluded Lucas.

The judge then asked if the defense had anything to say.

"Yes, your honor, I would like to cross- examine Miss Zhoe in the absence of the witness," I said.

The judge nodded. Laura was sent out of the courtroom and Miss Zhoe came to the stands.

"Miss Zhoe, at what time did the incident take place?" I asked.

"I know that it was late at night.I don't remember the exact time but I'm sure it was mostly between 5- 7 because that day, I reached my house at 8" said Zhoe.

I smiled while I asked her "Are you sure?".

"Yes I'm confident. It definitely was after 5 pm" she nervously said.
"Your honor, I would now like to call Miss Laura, the witness of the case to the stands". I asked. The judge nodded and Laura entered the courtroom. "Miss Laura, at what time did the incident take place?" I asked. "It was late at night. I think it was after 5 pm" said Laura.

"Your honor, the following is a list of people who entered the office that day. In addition, it includes when the employee entered and exited the office. The list says Miss Laura left the office at 3 pm that day," I said.

The courtroom started to buzz with whispers.

"Silence Silence" the judge ordered. "You may proceed," he said.

I walked up to Miss Laura and questioned her "Miss Laura here it states that you left the office at 3 pm that day. How did you witness the incident?"

"I object, your honor. There is no evidence to support the credibility of the document presented to you." said Lucas.
