Boyfriend

Chapter 1

Izuku couldn't believe it. Had someone told him a year ago that he would be attending the concert of Japan's biggest band Dynamight, let alone holding a VIP pass for backstage, he would have laughed on their face.

And if you thought that was all, you couldn't be more wrong. If someone would have told him that he will get to share this experience with a girlfriend by his side, he definitely would have reminded them to take their pills, it was time. But what a year can do to you.

Izuku was a nerd, he knew that. He was one of those students in the school who everyone hated for reminding the teacher of homework. For always having the highest grades. For being the bestest boy in school. Don't get them wrong though, everyone adored and loved him, he was beautiful. But he was just too oblivious to everyone's hints and flirts. He was a menace.

College was no different. The only thing different was he was nerdier than before. He was that nerdy guy with big round black-rimmed glasses who always had his face buried in his favorite superhero manga. His glasses hid in them his dreamy emeralds. Eyes so dazzling, they could make you keep falling over and over again. Only if Izuku would give someone a chance.

His messy green curls were always left in their wilderness, swaying in their full glory. Green majestic curls with a hint of black shaping his adorable baby face, the face which was littered with a constellation of beautiful freckles all around his nose and cheeks. It would catch color even with the slightest of attention. Though Izuku never believed it, he was beautiful in his nerdiness.

There wasn't a single person who saw Izuku and did not do a double-take, be it for his looks or for the stack of books he always had in his hands. They were like a part of him, forever present. But it was easier to make a rock talk than to make Izuku believe he was gorgeous.

So, imagine his surprise when one of his best friends, somebody he genuinely thought to be one of the most beautiful girls he has seen, proposed to him.

Imagine his surprise when he saw his best friend get on her knees, pull a red rose, and ask him if he would be her boyfriend.

Imagine his surprise when he saw all his friends cheering for them in the middle of the cafeteria making it a scene right out of a movie.

He had never really thought about Ochako as anything more than friends, but then again, he had never thought about these things much in the first place.

He never thought anyone would fall for him, he was so basic he thought. He never had a relationship during school as nobody was interested in the tiny nerdy kid, he thought, only if he could see the truth.

Nobody had ever made him feel special, made him feel he was someone to cherish, someone important so when he sees his best friend on her knees saying all these beautiful words how could he reject her?

How could he reject her when she tells him she has loved him all these years. How could he reject her when she tells him she was scared of losing him so she kept it to herself but she cannot control her feelings any longer. How would you reject someone when they make you feel so special?

So, he accepts. He had read in one of the books, you should be with someone who loves you because they will make you their whole world. They will make you their endgame. And wouldn't you want someone who loves you more? He knew life is not a fairytale, there is nothing called perfect love. You may find someone you truly love but what's the guarantee they would love you too?

So he accepts. He accepts thinking that he will fall in love, eventually. He loved her as a best friend anyway, it was just a matter of time.

So here they were, three months into the relationship. Ochako gives him all her attention, she knows Izuku doesn't love her yet and she understands. She understands you can't fall in love with someone with a press of a button so she tries every day. She tries every day to be the best girlfriend, caring, loving, and supportive in hopes that one day Izuku will feel the way she feels for him.

She puts effort into her relationship. Taking out time for him, planning little dates - like the one today. A concert date. She was taking Izuku to Dynamite's concert. She knows Izuku may not love their music much but it would be a fun experience for him and she wants him to enjoy it.

Izuku sees all her efforts and puts himself out there too for her but if you ask him, he is still a little unsure. He still hesitates when she holds his hands, he still doesn't feel that great while kissing her but he is trying to be the best boyfriend too. So he pushes these feelings aside and tries to make her happy, and does all she asks. Like today, he will be going to a concert for her.
