I used to think love, at first sight, was some kind of myth- Then you looked at me, and I fell harder and deeper than anyone.

<XIAO ZHAN'S POINT OF VIEW>
The evening sun cast long shadows on the ground. The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a tepid orange tinge to the sky.
I peeked out the curtains of the carriage, taking a glimpse of the scintillating Palace ahead of our rig. I averted my gaze, feeling a tug on my sleeves, reeling to find a face clogged with a thick white veil, with only but the eyes revealed.
"Is there something wrong, Fan Xing?" I catechized and he shook his head.
"There's nothing, I'm only anxious about what's ahead of us,"
I grinned, he was the youngest among us, yet he was the most cognitive. I reached out and stroked his lengthy raven hair that rested on his lower back neatly. "It's going to be alright,"
The purities, they called us. A set of omega-males, taken from their home at an early age, raised far away from their families, trained to satisfy the imperial family in every aspect. We were considered unblemished, untouched, undyed.
Our midnight black hair was shiny as silk, our complexion could rival the purest milk, our cheeks and lips were rosy, touched by the finest cosmetics, our clothes were made from the softest cotton, linen, and silk, our wrists and ankles shackled with golden chains and jewels that made us a mole in wherever we stood and lastly, our faces, covered with permanent white veils that could only be removed when a member of the royal family found us fitting to become a consort or a concubine.
All of us, drilled in our special way to please and pleasure.
"He's ancient, I don't wish to be selected!"
At the other side of the carriage, crouched Jun Fen, arms bridged over his chest, his ebony eyes disclosing the pout beneath his veil and Xiao Xing Chen, engrossed in a book with his legs crossed over the over.
I cackled at Jun Fen's words. "That's right, he's stale. I marveling how you will endure it" I teased. Who would want to be selected by an old man, but then again he was the emperor of their great dynasty, who could say no to riches and fame?
"Easy for you to say, luck you got betrothed to the crown prince!" He huffed, throwing his face away and I chuckled once more.
"The emperor is old, Jun Fen, he would get ill or drop dead at any moment," my voice came out a bit too serious than intended but they got it as their eyes reeled towards my direction, even Xiao Xing Chen. "Look at the brighter side" I added and silence fell over us once more.
Compared to them, I had an advantage, I was betrothed to the crown prince, which meant, I would not be serving any other royal except Prince Lui Hai Kuan but still, we would all be serving the emperor whenever he needed, an old man like Jun Fen had stated.
Finally, our carriage rode through the streets and arrived at the palace courtyard, our presence was announced and we finally stepped out, awing at the sight that surrounded us.
There were ten of us, standing in a straight line before the crown prince that had come out to welcome us, gracing us with his royal presence, a few others at his side, smiling welcomely but only one caught my attention,
