PART 1
Shady Hollow Police Department Interview #716 Name: Harvey Reacher By: Officer Jack Cahn 07/19/15 11:07 A.M.

Off. Cahn: Nice to see you, Mr. Reacher.

Harvey: Uh..you too, Officer Cahn.

Off. Cahn: You can call me Jack, son.

Harvey: Oh...okay, Jack.

Off. Cahn: You can sit down, too
Harvey. I don't bite.

Harvey: Yes, sir.

Off. Cahn: You okay to talk, kid? You seem nervous.

Harvey: Yeah, yeah. This is just a lot to take in.

Off. Cahn: I understand. What was your relationship with Violet might I ask?

Harvey: She was my girlfriend, sir. We've been together for a year.

Off. Cahn: Any relationship problems lately, Harvey?

Harvey: No sir. But she changed out of the blue a couple months ago.

Off. Cahn: Elaborate.

Harvey: We'd just finished our spring semester at university.

Off. Cahn: Michigan State?

Harvey: Yes, sir. We share an apartment about ten miles away from school. She was done with school after the semester ended..got her associate's degree. I'm still going for my bachelor's but I'd decided to continue school throughout summer so I'd be done soon, as well.

Off. Cahn: What was her degree for?

Harvey: Business, she wanted to be a secretary. It didn't take long for her to land a job. She got hired as the receptionist at the vet's office downtown. I remember she was real excited because she'd always had a thing for animals.

Off. Cahn: What were her hours at the office?

Harvey: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 to 5. She'd be there while I was gone to classes. I'd get home half an hour before her everyday.

Off. Cahn: Ok. You said she changed a couple months ago? How so?

Harvey: Um, yeah...where do I start. Okay, it was a Thursday in June. The 9th I believe? She was off work that day so she was at home on her own. I remember her being on edge that morning before I left for school. She'd said the night before she had left work a little later than usual due to extra paperwork. Her boss had told her to lock up, so naturally she was the only one in the parking lot by 6:30. She'd gotten home that night looking pretty shaken. Said when she locked up and walked to her car she felt like she was being watched. It was humid and foggy so she couldn't see past ten feet but said she was sure that someone stood past those ten feet, watching. I told her she was just paranoid because she'd been alone.

Off. Cahn: So this is when the strange behavior started? The night of June 8th?

Harvey: Yes, sir. Like I said, I went to school the next day, leaving her alone at the apartment. She looked like she'd lost sleep, like she was shaken, but I couldn't miss school. I'd acted the same way during finals in May. I just thought she was stressed.

Off. Cahn: Could have been stress, continue.

Harvey: It was just past two that day when I got a text from her. She said she was being watched again. I didn't want to dismiss it so I just told her to close all the blinds and lock the doors and windows. She said she did and I didn't talk to her again until I got home. She still looked shaken, even more so now than before. I asked her what was wrong. She said she'd gone to close the blinds on the kitchen window, which had a view from our 2nd story to the backyard. She'd seen something, beside one of the big oak trees back there. She thought it looked like some black figure. She'd closed the blinds immediately, and when she peeked through one of the openings, nothing was there.
