"Is this going to take long? I have a bed calling my name." Ray asked.

"Is it mine? Cause I have room for 2." I winked.

"I want a new roommate. You're definitely going to do something when I'm asleep!" He cried.

"Is that consent you're giving me?"

"Shut up and help me switch my classes, Jack Frost."

"A new pet name, my love? I guess I'll have to catch up, Sunshine." I laughed as he covered his face in his hands.

"Just help me switch my classes."

"Alright, I'll stop. We're here, anyway." I opened the door, and Ray walked inside. "Good morning, my friend would like to change some of his classes."

"Ok, but you know that changes aren't always promised. Classes could be full or not accepting more students." The lady at the front desk explained.

"Ok, and?" Ray questioned.

"What he meant to say is we understand," I added, noticing her glare.

"Alright, would you like any assistance?"

"That won't be necessary." I led Ray into the next room. "Ok, since you're new here, I'll give you some advice. Never sass any office employee. Trust me, you'll need them later on."

"Sure, I will." Ray rolled his eyes.

"I'm serious."

"When am I ever going to need a lady who looks like a witch?"

"When you're dying at the gates to the office begging for help from the witch!"

"That's a little dramatic, but I'll keep that in mind next time I get shot."

I sat down at one of the desks and pulled up the student records. "What's your last name?" I already knew Ray's last name, but I learned that knowing someone's last name before they tell you is kind of creepy.

"Hearts."

"Hmm, Ray Hearts? You seem like someone who would stab someone's heart."

"Is that supposed to be a compliment?" Ray laughed.

"Take it however you want to."

"Thank you." He winked.

"Alright, what classes do you want?"

"I honestly don't care. Just give me whatever is available." I smirked and changed all of Ray's classes to mine. It felt like I was cheating, but anything to make this mission a little easier. I wasn't in the mood to chase him around to kill him. It'll be easier to be able to keep an eye on him as well. "Ok, I'm done. Your new schedule will be emailed to you later."

"Great, now I can leave." Ray smiled.

"Hold on. I was wondering if you wanted to get breakfast? I noticed you didn't exactly eat anything at the cafe this morning." I knew I was pushing my luck. But, aside from my father's mission to kill Ray, I had my own mission. I wanted to get to know him. I refuse to kill someone for no reason. Ray seemed harmless, just a boy hiding his own secrets. I don't mind making a new friend.

"You know what? Sure." With that, we headed back to the main building.

...

"I heard your roommate's hot." My friend, Akira, said.

"Hmm, sure." I wasn't really paying attention because my so-called "hot" roommate was talking with Ren. Ren was the school's jerk. Or that's how most people perceived him as. He was just a kid with way too much trauma. The weird thing was that he was talking to Ray like they were best friends. Ray was laughing at everything Ren was saying.

"I swear your cousin always puts you with the hot guys." Another one of my friends, Jeremy, complained.

"Why do you even care? You're straight!" I argued.

"Just because I'm straight doesn't mean I can't appreciate a hot guy. Honestly, I would totally make it out with him."

"Oh, just shut up. I call dibs!" Akira yelled.

"You can't just call dibs on him." I groaned in frustration. "None of you guys are going near him!" I yelled as the two continued arguing.

"Aww, c'mon, Norman! That's not fair." Akira whined.

"I really don't care. You two are going to scare him away."

"He's not wrong." Jeremy sighed. "Looks like Norman would rather have the new kid to himself."

"That's not even what I said!"

"That's what it looks like." Aki teased.

"You both are unbelievable." I threw my hands up in defeat.

"Call us when you land a date with him!" They both yelled as I walked away. I wasn't in the mood to deal with them, so my best option was to leave to bother someone else. I went back to the dorm after noticing Ray had left as well. My guess was that he was also at the dorm because he seemed tired in the morning. I unlocked the door and entered. Sure enough, Ray was sitting on his bed, looking at his phone.

"Oh, it's you." He mumbled, looking up to see me. "What do you want?"

"I'm bored, so I want to hang out with you."

"Well, I'm not bored, so leave me alone."

"Not a chance. Do you want to play 20 questions?" I offered.

Ray sighed, "Sure, but you have to leave me alone for at least an hour after."

"Deal. You go first. Oh, and you have to tell the truth."

Ray nodded and began, "What's your favorite thing about this place?"

"Probably the food." I laughed. He was starting easy. I assumed he would ask a more personal question.

"How did your parents die?" Ray didn't even flinch. It looked like he was expecting me to ask him that. However, his expression was no longer calm.

"Car accident. I was 7. How'd your mom die?" I expected that question.

"Suicide. I was also 7." I paused for a moment, "How do you know Ren?"

Ray smirked, "We were old friends. Why?"

"Just wondering."

"What's your biggest fear?"

"Cockroaches. Yours?"

"If you laugh at me, I'll punch you." Ray threatened.

"What is it?"

"Clowns." He cringed as he said that.

"You're kidding." I laughed and then winced when Ray punched me.

"Clowns are terrifying!"

"What? They're red noses and big shoes!" I couldn't help but tease him.

"At least I'm not scared of little bugs!"

"Cockroaches are not little. They're hideous, and some of them can fly!" I shuddered, thinking of those ugly things. That caused Ray to start laughing. "Oh, just hurry up and ask your question."

Ray looked me dead in the eye, "Why do you keep trying to befriend me?"

"Because you're interesting." And because I sort have to kill you.

But, I'm starting to like you.
