SHE WOKE UP in his arms.

It wasn't an automatic waking. No, it was that soft kind of waking, stirring into such a soft sense of reality that the line between dreaming and waking ceased to exist. Even though she hadn't dreamt a thing, waking up so peacefully seemed unreal. When she turned her head to face him, his hair laid a mess but his eyes were closed softly. She smiled, pushing the hair out of his face. He hummed, eyes still closed. "Hey."

"Hey." she muttered quietly.

The sun broke into the windows and light crept through the thin curtains and she got a glimpse into the life they could live if things were normal. She relished in it for as long as she could.

"Coffee?" he asked.

She laughed airily. "Yeah."

He smiled against her skin and her heart laid content.

"You are so infuriating!"

All he could do was smirk, taking another sip of coffee as she glared at the game of speed she had just lost. She wished the hat on his head covered the cocky expression on his face but unfortunately, it didn't. "It's not your fault. I'm very quick."

"Again." she demanded, her hands already passing back the cards.

He shrugged, taking another sip as she scowled at him. Klaus laughed in the seat beside them, muttering with Diego about his "alleged" son. Five looked up briefly, taking his cards in hand. "Wait, who's... who's the mother?"

"Lila."

Charlotte choked on her own coffee, sloppily placing down a queen on top of the king.

"Excuse me?" Klaus mumbled.

"Whoa, Lila's here?" Five inquired seriously, quickly stacking his cards in response.

"Was." Diego pointed out. "She dropped him off in my lap last night then bolted."

"At least she didn't ask for child support." Charlotte snarked weakly, beating Five to place an ace. She smirked and he rolled his eyes.

"I would think taking care of the child is 'child support." he replied in annoyance.

Klaus sighed. "I don't much care for that one."

"Don't." Five intervened. "Technically, she's family." He stacked four cards and she cursed under her breath.

"She was trying to murder us, like, yesterday." Klaus argued. "She helped kidnap your girlfriend."

Charlotte didn't look up as she stacked a four. "And Luther and Diego have both continuously insulted me and threatened me."

"Yeah, like I said, 'family'," Five said, smirking once more as he quickly stacked his final card and she groaned in frustration. "Diego, is she coming back?"
