Turns out, my car was broken. My car wouldn't start, my Dad was at work, and my favorite Mom was out running errands and I didn't have enough time to call someone to fix it and then go pick up Johnny in time.

So, I called Randy and asked him if he could drive me to the Curtis house, pick up Johnny, and then drive us back home. He agreed and soon came to my house before we drove to the Curtis house.

Randy and I talked about lots of things. From baby names to Johnny and school. Randy had taken over as the CEO of his Dad's company, which was what was destined for him since he was born. Randy said if he had been born a girl, his parents would've kept trying for a boy until they got one. They just got lucky the first time.

"I get a feeling that Johnny isn't fond of me." Randy chuckled a bit, turning the corner.

"Well, you're right but he'll warm up to you." I lied. I knew that there was no way that Johnny would ever like Randy, even in the slightest.

Randy pulled up to the Curtis house, and I realized that Darry's car was there. It was a weekday, so it was sort of unusual. I wondered if he took the day off so he could have a break. I hoped he did, he needed a break.

Closing the door behind me, I got out of the car and knocked on the front door. I felt as if I was making a pick-up. Like when the mail got mixed up and we had to go searching for it.

The door soon opened, revealing a tired-looking Sodapop. He gave me an awkward smile, before saying I could come inside. Johnny grabbed the tote of his things I had returned a couple of days ago.

He gave me a small smile as we began to walk back outside. Johnny looked over his shoulder, saying goodbye to the gang.

"That's not your car." Johnny stopped about four feet from Randy's car.

"My cars broke, so I called Randy."

"Randy?!" I turned to face him.

"Yeah..." I said, confusion written in my voice.

"You couldn't have called anyone else?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Johnny, my dad is at work and my mom is out running errands. I couldn't call anyone else." Johnny shrugged.

"I don't like him, and you know that." I noticed the gang was now outside. I guess they didn't hear the car pull out of the driveway and thought something might be happening outside.

"He's done nothing wrong, Johnny! I don't get why you hate him so much!" I scoffed.

"Maybe I'm not comfortable around a guy who watched you get raped being around you or my future child!" I didn't realize I smacked Johnny until I felt the stinging sensation on my palm. I didn't even apologize.

"The one time you bring that up is to use it against me?!" Johnny stared at the ground beneath him. "Get in the car or you can put your things in there and walk, I really don't care anymore." My eyes brimmed with the tears I tried to hold back before I trotted off in the direction of the car.

When I got inside the car, I immediately burst into tears. Johnny and I hadn't acknowledged that since the night we talked about it after court. I always thought that maybe he didn't want to talk more about it because he didn't want me to cry, but it was obvious now that that wasn't the case.

"If Johnny puts his things in the backseat but doesn't get in, then just drive off," I said to Randy, who sat awkwardly in his seat as I cried.

"What were you guys arguing about?" Randy asked, shifting in his seat to face me.

"He doesn't want you around." I put my face in my hands before the car door swung open. I heard Johnny put his things in the back before he shut the door with a huff.

"If I've come between you two, I can stop coming around. I know how much you two love each other, I wouldn't want to come in between that." I shook my head as Randy started his car.

"No, you didn't come in between us." We didn't say anything else the rest of the car ride home.

"Johnny, man, that wasn't cool," Dally said as I kicked a rock that was on the sidewalk.

"I know, I don't know what's wrong with me lately." I sighed, wishing I hadn't said anything to Amelia about Randy.

"Why does Randy wind you up so bad?" Ponyboy asked. Ponyboy had talked to Randy a couple of times, and he thought he was a good guy.

"When I figured out what happened to Amelia, and that Randy was there, I wanted to be around her all the time so nothing like that would ever happen again. Before that, Amelia said that she once had a crush on Randy and now we're not together and she's alone with him all the time." I said, glancing at Ponyboy.

She told Ponyboy and me that she once had a crush on Randy when she was younger when we were hiding in that old church up on Jay Mountain.

"I'm not letting you walk to the Soc side of town, Johnny. I'll drive ya." Darry said, pulling his keys out of his pocket.

"Thanks, Darry," I muttered, as Darry and I walked to his car.

"And Johnny, if you wanna get back with Amelia then I'd advise you to start making better choices," Darry whispered as he started his car. I nodded and closed the car door as I got in.
