Bokuto's POV:
"Not happening."
Bokuto glanced at the outfit in his arms. A bright pink flamingo t-shirt and jean shorts. Why does Akaashi own this? He snickered, trying to envision Akaashi wearing the outfit, but his imagination failed him. The only way to see it was to convince Akaashi to wear it. "You said I could!" Bokuto put his hands together, moving them up and down. "It'll be fun!"
Akaashi sighed, eyeing the bright shirt. "...Fine. But only because I said I would." Akaashi stepped into the closet, closing the door loudly as if to punctuate his annoyance with Bokuto. Bokuto sat down, leaning back as he waited. Twiddling his thumbs, he rolled onto his stomach staring at the dark blue of Akaashi's bedsheets. Almost as dark as the mystery person's mask.
Who could it be? And why would someone watch us? I don't think we've made much progress. Maybe we did, but we can't connect the dots?
"Done." Bokuto spun around, a smile returning to his once pensive face. Akaashi's face looked aloof, and he seemed to be contemplating something. "The last time I wore this shirt was in grade school. Seventh grade. It was oversized—probably why it fits now."
Bokuto hadn't ever seen Akaashi in brighter colours, other than their baby-blue uniform. But the pink kind of highlighted his hair and eyes. "You look nice! Pink flamingoes suit you." Akaashi snickered, retaking his place beside Bokuto.
"You know... it's weird, but it feels like we've been dating forever." Akaashi lamented, eyes drifting around his room. "I wonder if this is how all soulmates feel."
Bokuto paused, trying to figure out if he felt the same way. He's right. This feels... natural. I feel like this is... "Destiny."
Akaashi snorted again, the sound sounding... perfect. It might not sound that way to other people, but it sure sounded great to Bokuto.
Kalopsia: the delusion of things being more beautiful than they actually are. Akaashi had mentioned the word before, saying that lovers were often afflicted with it. Bokuto agreed with the statement because it seemed to be something he also suffered from in some aspects, such as Akaashi's laugh. But he was pretty sure everybody would agree Akaashi was... well... stunning.
"That is really cliche." Akaashi continued to laugh-snort. "It's," He did a dramatic hair toss. "Destiny."
"I was just thinking aloud!" Bokuto protested, his complaint shadowed by his soulmate's continued laughter. "It wasn't that funny!"
Bokuto sighed, closing his eyes, and listened to Akaashi's laughs die down. Once the melodious sound dwindled to nothing, Bokuto poked Akaashi. "Sooooo..."
"So?"
"Are you my boyfriend now?" Bokuto fell over into Akaashi's lap, staring up with puppy-dog eyes. Say yes. Say YES!
"Hmm..." He narrowed his eyes in an over-dramatic expression of thoughtfulness. "I suppose I am, yes."
"Woo-hoo!" Bokuto giggled uncontrollably, sounding awfully similar to a little kid on Christmas morning. "I am officially DATING the most handsome boy on Earth!"
Akaashi smiled hesitantly. "I don't know about the most handsome but..."
"Most! Handsome! Boy! On! Earth!" Bokuto emphasized each word, grinning like a madman. "Ab-so-lute-ly GORGEOUS!" Bokuto blew an air kiss to him, which Akaashi promptly 'caught'.
"Well, if you'll pull my leg about it..." Akaashi's smile stretched, and he flashed his teeth for a moment.
Bokuto could feel his heart skip a beat. Gosh, why are you so fucking CUTE?! "Cutest smile ever."
The Man In The Closet's POV:
The muffled voices continued outside the closet door.
Geez, the lovey-dovey-ness could rot my teeth. I swear, I'm going to get diabetes from all this sweetness. The two boys were disgustingly, immensely domestic. He almost felt bad about killing one of them.
Welp, one had to die. Boss's orders. They'd probably already chosen the survivor. But these two kids almost made him doubt the integrity of the L.L. organization. I mean, they didn't even know they were soulmates. They just fell in love! Then again, one sample didn't show the truth of the whole. Sometimes they got together just because they were soulmates, and that led to abuse, depression, unwanted kids and orphans, sometimes even murders and untimely deaths.
No, we definitely need to do away with these stupid confines of the soulmate system. And these kids... Stupid, he shouldn't remind himself of their youth! Uh, these people were a threat to everything. Somehow, they'd discovered more than the police had, even if it was just a wild guess. They will ruin our organization.
Slowly, he backed into a corner of the tiny passageway behind the closet. Why it was there, he didn't know. But it wasn't his problem or his business. He had information to report, and a murder to help plan.
A/N: Sorry for the lateness! I am NOT cancelling the story, just dealing with some familial issues. Nothing serious, just makes it hard to update :).
