"Good morning baby" said a deep voice from the other side of the bed.
It was Leo Leila's boyfriend, they shared the same dorm.
"good morning" Leila replied quietly as she got up to wash her face and brush her teeth.
She looked in the mirror and softly touched the bruise that was on her neck and got lost in the flashbacks as she suddenly felt arms wrapped around her from the back.
"are you still sad about this? come on it was an accident and i said i was sorry" Leo said with a somewhat calm tone.
"just try to cover it up" he added before leaving and kissing her on her shoulder.
It wasn't the first time that he had caused her pain but it was the first time he ever laid a finger on her.
He was a complicated person and her mother warned her about him but she didn't listen love had made her blind and now she has to pay the price. She can't tell her mother anything about it so she doesn't get "i told you so" rubbed in her face.
Leila hid the bruise with some makeup and wore a turtle neck sweatshirt even though it was burning hot outside but she couldn't risk anyone from the University seeing it specially on the first day.
Once she was done getting ready she got out of the toilet, Leo was already fully dressed so they were ready to leave. And oh yeah they got accepted in the same University. As for Michael, he woke up well he never really went to sleep, he got dressed and went to the bathroom, where he just stared at himself in the mirror, he was paler than the usual, his face got skinnier, his eyes were red and swollen.
He splashed a bit of cold water on his face to freshen up and got out.
His dad was still sleeping, that's what he's always doing nowadays other than drinking.
He went down to the kitchen to make himself breakfast but as soon as the food touched his lips he gagged, he had the urge to puke. For some reasons he couldn't get himself to eat properly anymore, maybe it's from the anxiety? the lack of sleep? or all the jokes he received as a child of how much he eats. He placed the sandwich down and got out of the house. He lived in a pretty calm neighborhood, he refused to go live in a dorm like every other student, he couldn't leave his father alone. But whenever he got out of the house he always received pity stares, he hated it. He hated being the center of attention. The university wasn't too far from where he lived but he still needed to take the bus.
Once on the bus he tried closing his eyes for little bit but all he could see was his dad laying unconsciously on the couch and the sound of the ambulance echoing everywhere. He had been having multiple nightmares about this and couldn't get that day out of his head, even though he told everyone he got over it and was doing alright but the truth? he's never been that down and that miserable. The bus stopped at it's destination and then he had to walk a bit to get to the university, it was pretty much huge and already full of people.
He hated being around people and especially strangers, he tried keeping his social anxiety under control but oh well- at some point he couldn't really see clearly and was just walking fast to reach his class and that's when he bumped into someone.
"im- im sorry" he stuttered while looking down."it's okay don't worry" a soft voice replied, it was one of the softest voices he's ever heard. He slowly looked up it was a tall girl, with long curly black hair, big hazel eyes and small red lips.
"Come on Leila we don't have forever" some random man yelled.
"well eum good luck" the girl gently replied as she waved goodbye to Michael.
