Tw mention of abuse, alcohol and deaths

Leila walked to her best friend's house and knocked on the door, Sophie opened the door with a concerned look on her face as she saw her best friend standing outside with her cheeks wet and covered with tears.

"Leila oh my god are you okay? what happened?" she asked petrified.

Leila took a few seconds before replying to make sure she says the right thing and not mess things up.

"im- im fine" the poor girl stuttered.

"no you are not fine hell you're literally shaking and- what's what's that?"

Sophie asked as she pointed to her best friend's neck that had a huge purple bruise.

come on Leila come up with a particularly good lie.

"it's nothing i swear maybe just a mosquito bite or something" Leila replied while avoiding eye contact.

"Oh come on Leila i am not that dumb. who did this to you? Is it Leo? do you want me to beat that shit's ass?"
She responded angrily.

"no no" sighs

"i- it was just a misunderstanding and i made him angry it it happens" she mumbled soflty.

"it doesn't just happen Leila and it's not the first time. You should break up with him- i can't stand to see you like that in that much pain" Sophie muttered and grabbed her best friend in for a hug.

"you know i can't" the brunette whimpered quietly.

Sophie was the only person that knew about Leo paying for Leila's University and studies. See she didn't tell her parents she wasn't doing great back in school, that her grades were dropping and that she didn't get a scholarship or financial aid. She only told them what they wanted to hear what they expected to hear.

"go get some rest you need it for tomorrow" Sophie whispered softly and lead Leila to the guest bedroom.

"Let's get you to bed huh?" Michael added and helped his dad stand up.

"but the the" his dad muttered.

"it's okay I'll clean it up now go get some sleep" he whispered softly.

Once he got his father upstairs and was about to close the door

The old man mumbled a few words
" i love you mike " before passing out.

Michael paused on the door step, looked back at his dad with tears filling inside his eyes "goodnight dad" he whimpered before closing the door.

He just wishes these words would come out of his dad's mouth when he's sober.

He went back downstairs and grabbed a family picture that he stared at for a while. It was an old picture way before his mother got diagnosed, she had long strawberry blonde hair, a beautiful rosy skin and blue downturned eyes.

God he missed her.

He missed his life back then, he missed being a child with no responsibilities other than doing his homework and going to bed early, he missed being able to sleep without waking up in a pool of his own sweat and not being able to breathe, he missed being able to eat without thinking of all the calories and all the comments, he missed coming back home without the fear of finding his dad laying unconscious on the floor.

🌤

A few hours later the sun was was already rising which means he had to get ready for yet another day in university. He put on a black flanel with a white tank top underneath, a baggy jeans and some black boots.
