On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.

"Extraordinary!" he spoke with a pleased grin on his face, "How much do you want for it?"

Jenavieve Grant sat in at her kitchen table with her newborn infant clutched to her chest while the older man tried poking the child with his leather glove covered hands. She pulled the child closer to her, afraid of making any sudden movements that may trigger the stranger who made his way into her home uninvited. She furrowed her eyebrows, "What do you mean?"

He stopped the small child from holding his glove, slightly repulsed by the feeling, "The child." he bluntly replied, straightening his posture once again, "How much?"

She bitterly scoffed at the man, "Not for sale." her tone had been almost sickened, not pleased with the man's intentions of stealing her one and only daughter, "Now, if you would please leave my house."

Reginald held the womans eye contact with a small smile played on his lips as he lightly felt a small chuckle begin to develop in his throat, "Please, don't be modest." he offered, using his hand to motion for her to suggest a large amount of money, a check that he would most certainly be able to afford.

She stood from her chair with her eyes trained on the man, trying her best to stay alert while remaining soft for her child's sake, "I need you to leave my house right now." she lowly instructed.

He raised his cane in his grasp before moving it behind him to motion for the nanny who stood to the right of him, "I can assure you that the child would be in g-"

"Not for sale." Jena repeated, sternly.

Reggie pursed his lips in thought while he lowered his cane back down to the floor in disappointment. He put on his top hat once again, "very well," he sighed while moving for the door slowly, "I hope you realize the danger you put the child in by doing this." He retorted, but before he completely left the home he turned on his heel briefly, "And if not, I hope she will learn to forgive you."

Without another word the rich man was gone, along with the nanny who trailed behind him.

Jenavive finally let out a big sigh of fear, anxious from the entire situation she was placed into. She rubbed the child's back as she began to cry from all of the commotion. Even if the man had no proof or knowledge of the future, she was still never able to shake the horror she felt from the final words he spoke to her.
