✺Winona landed in the passenger seat of a car as Five sat himself in the drives seat. She got shivers from the nostalgic feeling it sent her from blinking, bringing her back to their training days. By the time she had composed herself, he had already begun driving, "Feels weird after a while, huh?" he asked, looking in her direction to see her shake the feeling out from her fingers.
She lightly nodded her head, "A bit, yeah."
He moved his gaze from the girl to his right and back onto the road. He cleared his throat, "So, what did you need to talk to me about?" he asked sounding bored.
She furrowed her eyebrows at his words briefly before realizing what he was referring to, "Oh uh, my powers-" she raised her hands to her face, seeing their lack of usual green energy as she tried to make them activate, "They're gone."
He watched her palms as they remained blank, "...And?" he asked, not seeing why he had anything to do with it.
She scoffed and looked in his direction, "Well, I figured you would have an idea, since it was your fault."
He rolled his eyes while pulling into the parking lot of Griddy's doughnut shop, "Why do you keep saying that?" he asked, annoyed, "I didn't do anything besides bring myself back to my family." he shut the engine off and now looked over to her with a hardened gaze.
She dryly chuckled, "And brought me along," She crossed her arms, now matching his stiff posture, "Which was totally uncalled for, by the way."
"Oh," he sneered out of anger, "So you'd rather be dead?" he asked.
His harsh tone only made her more angry, "It's a lot better than being stuck with you!"
He slightly let his teeth clench as the silence began to surround them, making a thick and spiteful atmosphere within the small car. She watched his face in worry, not allowing her expression to show how much she craved to know what his reaction would be. Would he care? probably not, but would it be selfish of her to hope that he did? Maybe.
He pursed his lips, "Well," he sighed, "we can figure out how to get your powers back, it can't be that hard." Without another word he left his side of the car, moving for the entrance to the small diner.
Winona let out a small puff of air she had been holding back, slightly overwhelmed from the day she's already had. She softly smiled at Five's last words he said to her, glad to have some sort of brainpower to help solve how to gain her powers back.
✺
Eight made her way to the barstool beside Five as she entered the small diner. He sat beside an older man who continued to look at him with a weirded out expression on his face. Winona paid him no attention as she sat herself on her stool, "hey."
"Hope you still like doughnuts, I ordered you a few." he spoke to her, not bothering to move his face to look in her direction.
She shrugged her shoulders, "I guess, but why?" she asked. He shoved the small plate of stacked donuts in her direction, allowing her to begin her meal.
"When I lose energy, I lose power so this is the first step in finding yours again," he spoke with a matter-of-fact tone. He was silent for a minute before finally breaking his staring contest with his cup of coffee, now looking in her direction, "besides, I remember the jelly filled were your favorite." His eyes travelled to her now filled cheeks, stuffed to the brim with the donuts he previously picked out, he simply smiled at the sight. Any and all previous frustration he built toward her was gone with her simple look on her face.
