Dewayne POV

<Present Time – 2:19 PM>

"Thank you for lunch, baby," Harmony smiles as we step into the lobby elevator.

"Anything for my baby." I lace my fingers through hers and pull her into a kiss.

"I'm so full," she groans, placing her free hand on her stomach.

"Yeah?" I smirk, rubbing her belly. "One day, you really gon' be full."

Harmony looks up at me with that soft smile and blush that does something to my chest every damn time.

The elevator doors slide open. She steps out and turns right toward her desk, while I start off to the left. Neither of us lets go. We glance back at each other, fingers still laced.

"The office is this way, silly," she giggles.

"I know. I just gotta handle something real quick... and you comin' with me."

"Oohh." She gives me this sly smile, clearly thinking I'm talkin' about fucking. I don't say nothin', just smirk and lead the way.

But her smile drops when we stop in front of the mailroom.

"Why we goin' in here?" she asks, side-eying me.

"To put a hoe in her place," I say, opening the door and letting her walk in first.

Mika's standing by the copy machine watching his papers print. Sabrina's in the back, fake-laughing on the phone.

"Should I leave again?" Mika says, barely turning his head.

"Nah, you good, B," I say, walking up to the counter and locking eyes with Sabrina.

She sees me and smiles way too big, hanging up the phone quickly like she couldn't wait.

"Hey loverb—"

"Aye, cut that shit." I raise my hand. "I'm not here for none of that. I'm here because you disrespected my lady." I tilt my head toward Harmony, still holding her hand tight.

"Excuse me?" Sabrina laughs like I didn't just check her.

"Bitch, what you not about to do is play dumb—" Moni cuts in, trying to snatch her hand away.

"Babe—Harmony, I got this." I lock eyes with her for a second before turning back to Sabrina.

"That shit we had? Ancient history. Miss Taylor is my girlfriend. You not gonna disrespect her. What you are gonna do is your job — nothing more, nothing less. If it ain't 'Miss Taylor, here's your mail,' don't let shit else come out your mouth."

Sabrina blinks, face stuck like she didn't think I'd say that in front of her and my girl.

"You gon' come back," she says, smiling again, fake as hell. "You always do."

From the corner of my eye, I see Moni take a step forward — ready. I squeeze her hand tight, silently telling her, Chill. I got it.

"Nah. You gon' deal with me," I say, stepping forward. "I tried to be nice, but... You know what? Yo little bulimic ass can leave."

She freezes. I know she feels it now — this ain't a game.

"Oh wait... that's right. You can't leave. Still payin' off them student loans, huh? Maybe think about that next time you wanna run your mouth."

I turn with Moni, leaving her ass stunned and silent.

Before I can even get a word out or check on her, Harmony crashes her lips into mine.

I wrap my arm around her waist, leaning into the kiss like she's the only thing in the damn world.

When we pull apart, her eyes are glassy. "No one's ever done that for me," she says, breathless.

"Well, it's about time someone did." I pause, staring at her like she hung the damn moon. "I got hella love for you, Moni."

"I love you too," she says softly, lacing her fingers back with mine.

We walk hand-in-hand down the hall, turning heads. I stop with her once we reach her desk.

"I'll see you at home, Mr. Ross," she says in her best professional white girl voice.

"Home?" I repeat, grinning. "I like that. I'll definitely see you at home."

That's the first time she's ever called my place that.

"Baby... people are watching," Harmony whispers.

"Good." I kiss her sweetly in front of everyone, then tap her ass once before heading into my office — smiling like a fool the whole way.
