Moni's POV

I lather my body with lavender body wash, the steam curling around me as the hot water rushes over my skin. My fingers slowly work through my damp hair, undoing the braid-out. The memory of last night lingers, making me groan softly.

I woke up tangled in Dewayne's arms. His breath was warm against my neck, his body heat soothing and steady. For a moment, I let myself enjoy it. But then it hit me—I groped him while drunk. And if that wasn't bad enough, I threw up on my satin sheets.

I press my forehead to the cool tile as the water cascades down. "Get it together, Moni," I whisper, scrubbing my hands over my face.

The image of his calm, steady presence flashes in my mind. The way he held my hair back as I threw up, the softness in his voice as he reassured me, made something deep inside me flutter.

After rinsing off, I step out of the shower and wrap myself in my lime-green robe. Towel-drying my hair, I hear the faint sound of the TV from my room. I exhale, steeling myself, before opening the door.

Dewayne's POV

The soft creak of the bathroom door draws my attention from the TV. When Moni steps in, her damp hair clings to her shoulders, and her lime-green robe hugs her curves just right. I catch myself staring and quickly glance at the TV, but it's too late.

"You look so much better," I say, lowering the volume. "Beautiful."

She blushes, a shy smile creeping onto her face. "Thank you."

I watch as she moves toward her closet, her movements deliberate and graceful. She pulls out a white T-shirt and ripped shorts, holding them up to her frame.

"What are you getting into today?" I ask, leaning casually against her closet doorframe.

"I want to get more furniture," she replies, flipping through her hangers. "You know, make my new place feel like home."

"Mind if I tag along?"

She hesitates for a moment before nodding slightly. "No, I don't mind at all."

"That's good, ma," I say, licking my lips. Her blush deepens as she turns back to her shoes.

The Drive to Dewayne's Condo

"We gotta stop by my crib first," I say as I start the car. "If you're getting all cute, I need to look fly too."

"Who you trying to look daddyish for?" she teases, laughter dancing in her voice.

"Maybe I wanna look good for you, Moni," I reply smoothly.

Her smile fades slightly, and she exhales. "Dewayne, I know you like me, but... I feel like you're overdoing it with the compliments. It's just a little much for me."

The words hit me harder than I expect, but I nod. "You know what? You're absolutely right. My bad. We're friends. I get it."

I keep my tone even, but I know she picks up on the slight edge

At Dewayne's Condo

As I unlock the door to my condo, I hear a familiar voice behind me.

"Dewayne, is that you?"

Turning, I see Asia stepping out of her door. She's wearing a denim romper that hugs her curves perfectly, her dark skin glowing under the hallway lights. Her braids are pulled back into a sleek bun, and her full lips are curved into a soft smile.

"Asia," I greet, a slow grin spreading across my face. "Been a while. Where you been hiding?"

She laughs lightly, her voice as smooth as silk. "Jamaica. Girls' trip."
