chapter two ; the gruesome death of chrissy cunningham
season 4
episode 1

THE cold March air harshly pricked at Elena's bare legs and arms as she walked alongside Chrissy and -- shockingly -- Eddie Munson. She could not believe that she was doing what she was doing. Not only was she accompanying someone to a drug deal -- that someone being the head girl of Hawkins High -- but she was also willingly going into Eddie's trailer home. Now, don't get her wrong, Eddie was a nice guy and she really enjoyed his company -- from the few hours they had talked -- but it was just weird when you put those names together. Two head girls and the freak? It was a weird combo to everyone else.

Chrissy looked over at her friend and frowned when she saw her shivering. "I told you that you should've brought your sweater." Elena glared at her playfully and shoved her softly, the blonde giggling quietly as the two followed after Eddie. "This is, uh, my castle." He stepped ahead of the two and unlocked his door, opening it for them out of courtesy. After the two of them were safely inside, he followed behind them, the heavy door slamming behind him.

Elena took this as an opportunity to look around his small home, stifling a little bit of laughter at the mess. Aside from the stray pieces of fast food wrappers and the clutter, it seemed like a nice place to live in. "Sorry for the mess," he apologized, quickly grabbing some of the wrappers that were just thrown onto the counter. "Uh, the maid took the week off." Elena smiled at his attempt to lighten the mood. She turned to Chrissy and furrowed her eyebrows when she saw how tense the girl had seemed. Her eyes darted across the room and she even peered outside as if she was terrified of something. She had never seen her friend in this state before. She was worried.

"You, um. . . You live here alone?" Eddie shook his head even though Chrissy was turned away from him, his loose curls moving along with him. "With my uncle," He told her, tossing a few of the wrappers and beer cans away. Elena turned back around to face him, watching as he knelt down to grab some more. "But, uh, he works nights at the plant. Bringing home the big bucks." Elena frowned at his obvious joke and couldn't help but feel a little bad. "How long does it take?" Chrissy interrupted — but not in a rude way, she was genuinely curious. Elena looked over at her with furrowed eyebrows. She was extremely worried for her best friend, who in their right mind wouldn't be? 1. She wanted to do drugs. 2. She was now wondering how long it was going to take before it kicks in. Elena couldn't help but wonder what prompted this. "Sorry?" Eddie stopped what he was doing and looked up, hand halfway in a drawer. "The Special K. How long to kick in?"

Eddie resumed rummaging through drawers, probably searching for whatever this 'Special K' was — Elena was too scared to ask what it actually was. "Oh, uh, well, it depends if you snort it or not. Uh, if you do, then, uh, yeah. It'll, uh, kick in pretty quick." He took a box out of the drawer and pried the lid open, immediately whispering out a soft, "Oh, shit." Chrissy perked up at this and whipped her head around, now looking at the curly-headed boy. "You're sure you have it?" Chrissy questioned upon hearing his disheartened tone. Eddie set the box back in the drawer and nodded his head quickly, trying to reassure the blonde. "No, no, I got it. Um, somewhere." He looked at the two girls before turning on his heel, walking into what Elena assumed was his bedroom. Elena turned to look at Chrissy, placing a hand on her shoulder before giving it a soft squeeze. "Are you doing alright? Need to talk about something?" Elena whispered, trying not to get Eddie's attention from the room over. She turned to face Elena and slowly nodded, letting out a shaky breath.
