Once upon a time, in a magical land. There lived a beautiful princess named y/n. She was the only daughter of the king and queen. So they always nagged her about marriage. So that the husband can protect their kingdom, while taking care of her. And by rules, it had to be a prince.

"How many times do I have to tell you?! I don't want to get married to a prince!" The princess said.

"But y/n, you need to understand! This is for the betterment of our kingdom. Who will protect the kingdom when we are gone?" The king said.

"If that time comes then I'll protect the kingdom myself!" She said.

"Don't be unreasonable, y/n! Girls can never protect. They can't even protect themselves. So how do expect to rule a whole kingdom? You need to get married to a prince!" The queen said.

"Ughh!!" She growled and went away.

In truth, the king and queen were only worried about their daughter. They didn't want her to get. They didn't think a girl could protect a whole kingdom. From their point of view, only a prince can protect both her and the kingdom.

"Ugh! Why don't they believe in me?! Why do they think only a prince.. no screw that! Only a boy can fulfill the role of protectors?! And think that girls can only be a damsel in distress!!" She ranted to blue haired boy.

The boy patted her back. "Don't worry. I know that you're capable of doing more than that." He smiled.

This was Valt Aoi. The son of the king's advisor. He has been friends with the princess ever since they were kids. He taught her, how to use a magic sword, a magic arrow, short-distance combat etc.

Unbeknownst to one another, they both had a crush on each other.

Y/n had a crush on Valt, because he was the only one who accepted y/n for who she is, and sees her as what she is.

While Valt had a crush on Y/n, because of how different she was from other girls. She never backed away. No matter what was in front of her.

But their happy days were not long lasted. One day a ferocious dragon attacked their kingdom. The dragon was being controlled by an evil wizard, who wanted to take over the kingdom.

He captured everyone in the kingdom, including the king and queen and locked them up in the dungeon.
