Megan's POV

I'm glad that we are not the "enemies" sort of thing that we were before. Even if it still seems like he doesn't like me and is kind of cold towards me. But honestly, I receive that kind of attitude from people all the time, so it doesn't hurt much anymore.

We arrive at the front door and I knock once.

A face appears at the window and a smile breaks on Emma's face.

Then the door opens and Emma is standing on the side, with her arms crossed. "That was a long time."

Austin and I walk inside. I roll my eyes and shake my head. "So, Mom and Dad here yet?"

"No, they did called though." Alex says with her bad grammar, as always. She walks over and is now standing besides Emma.

"Well, what did they say?" I ask, a bit irritated. Alex and Emma never let anyone know anything, unless they ask. It gets annoying very quickly.

"They'll be back inna hour." Emma replies.

I watch Austin gather his stuff, from the corner of my eyes. I shake my head slightly and turn my attention towards Alex and Emma again.

"Okay we-" I begin, but stop when I hear Austin curse under his breath.

I walk towards him and ask, "What happened?"

He shakes his head and looks at his watch. "I missed the bus."

"Oh-" I glance at Alex and Emma, who are watching TV very intensely. "Hey, guys. You don't mind if Austin stays a little while longer, do you? He missed his bus."

Alex quickly looks at us, then back at the screen. "Sure."

I clasp my hands and ask, "When does the next bus come?"

"In forty minutes." Austin says, trying not to get angry. "But, you don't get it. I missed the bus and now I am missing a damned meeting."

"I'm sorry." I say, actually kind of meaning it. "I wish I could do something to help-"

Austin interrupts me and laughs. "Right. Because you would really go through the all trouble and help me." He says sarcastically.

The words kind of hurt more than he probably intended. But why is being mean, all of a sudden?

"What?" Is the only thing I say.

"Are you deaf?" He doesn't even try to hide his anger.

I am left with my mouth half open. "Hey, listen, I'm just trying to be nice, unlike you. I thought we sort of became friends-" Austin cuts my sentence off, again.

"Friends? Are you kidding me? Have you ever even looked at yourself? You look like a downright druggie who dropped out of school."

"Excuse me?" I extend the "excuse" part.

I do not do drugs. Just because I didn't clean myself up this morning and probably have messy hair does so not mean I am a freaking druggie.

"You heard me." He crosses his arms against his chest.

"Ugh. You are such a prick!" I force myself not to push him.

Alex and Emma are standing now, still in the living room, though.

I honestly don't care what kind of impression or influence I have on them. Not right now, anyways.

"What was that whole family deal? Why'd you have to act all nice and friendly if your just going to be mean to people?" I don't really ask them, it's more like trying to make him realize what he's doing.
