Megan's POVI get up and stretch my sore back. I open the car and step outside. I feel a little cold, because of the cool weather.
I wonder what happened while I was asleep and why my parents didn't bother to awake me.
I slam the door shut and walk towards the house. The lights inside the house are on. So, they are inside? Hopefully.
I cross my arms tightly and turn the door knob. Its cold against my warm hand. I don't know what to except, so I keep my my mind clear and push the door open.
A boy, about the age of twenty opens the door. "You are?"
I open my mouth and stutter: "I - I uh just-" I point at the car and can't get the words out of my mouth.
"Yeah?" He asks, clearly annoyed. He has attitude. His dirty blond hair swaying to the left side and his blue eyes, irritating. I know almost immediately, that I am not going to like him at all.
"Go on. I don't have all day."
He looks at me again and his face breaks into a grin. He starts smiling and laughing.
"What?"
"Nice hairstyle." He says sarcastically.
My hands rush up to my hair and I feel something sticky in my hair. The lollipop.
"You-" I am interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Megan?"
I turn my head and look above his shoulder. "Mom?" I ask, with more with shock than relief. What the hell is going on?
Tell me she didn't adopt him.
"Megan." She walks forward and puts one hand on the guy's shoulder to push him aside. Then, she hugs me.
"That's her?" whispers the guy. He looks at us in a weird way. And shakes his head disapprovingly.
Mom smiles and introduces me to the guy. "Megan - Austin. Austin - my daughter, Megan. And this is Austin."
Not adopted. I hope.
I stick my hand out to shake his. But either he doesn't notice or he ignores it. "Okay. I'm outta here. Any questions - you know my address."
"You'll be back tomorrow, right?" Mom asks.
"Yeah," he answers Mom, but keeps his eyes focused on me.
Once Mom hears his answer, she says, "Okay." Then mumbles something else that I cannot hear. She walks off, in a deep conversation with herself.
I keep my eyes glued on Austin and there is a moment of silence. His eyes narrow and I cross my arms again. I probably look like a snotty brat, but honestly, I don't care if he judges me. I'm kind of judging him too, from his attitude, personality, and body language.
Austin huffs. He steps in front of me. He's so close I can feel his breath on me. I look up at him to meet his eyes (he's a bit taller than me) and raise my brows. He smiles and his shoulder rubs against me as he exits. I turn my head to watch him leave.
Mom comes back with a frown on her face. "He left?"
"What planning to adopt him?"
"What?" Her face is filled with confusion.
"Who the hell was that?" I ask.
"Watch your tone, young lady," warns Mom.
"Sorry." I say, without putting any effort into it. "Who was that?"
