Anna smiled brightly and then Justin turned to her mother. "Mrs. Jonathan Brisby! It is an honor and a privilege, milady. I remember meeting you with Johnathan"
"If we could dispense with the formalities...?" Mr Ages grumbled walking forward.
Justin stepped in toe with Anna keeping silent as they walked. "The lights..They're quite lovely. I remember you telling me about electricity" Anna said quietly.
"You remembered.. We've had electricity for four years now" Justin explained.
"Five" Mr Ages grumbled as they entered a floating lamp.
"Jonathan often spoke of electricity" Elizabeth nodded.
"But you see, our shame is that we're stealing it from Farmer Fitzgibbons" Justin hung his head in shame.
"Stealing?" Elizabeth's eyes widened.
"That's what you guys were doing that day" Anna yelled in glee finally having the answer.
"What day?" Elizabeth questioned.
"All of that is going to change" Justin said loosening Elizabeth's anger.
"He means we're working on a Plan" Mr Ages explained.
"I mean, that we have a Plan. And this stealing will stop. Now..." Justin said looking to Mr Ages.
"Oh yes. Why did you send for me?" Mr Ages asked.
"It's Jenner. He's at it again"
"Hmmm. There blows an ill wind."
"He's before the Council now. This time he's attacking Nicodemus openly."
"And the Plan, no doubt."
"Nothing will come of it. It'll pass."
"Beware, boy, he's dangerous."
"Jenner will be the undoing of the Rats of NIMH."
"I'm sorry to come here at such a bad time" Elizabeth cut in. "I suppose..."
"No, sweet lady" Justin said shaking his head softly then looking to Anna, speaking directly to her. "you are welcome here anytime... We tend to take ourselves a bit too seriously."
They had made it to the door of the council and Anna could hear loud yelling coming from inside.
"Stay behind me. Try not to be seen" Justin whispered to Anna stepping in front of her.
They walked in to see a big court room. An evil looking man was at the bottom but when he noticed the group of people he turned to them.
"We... We were just talking about you."
"That's refreshing, Jenner. Usually you're screaming about us" Justin joked.
"Who is that?" Jenner asked pointing to Elizabeth.
"You know the rules there are no visitors allowed here" someone yelled from the stands.
"May I present Mrs. Jonathan Brisby" Justin said stepping sideways now completely coving Anna's body from view.
"Jonathan Brisby is dead!"
"She's not one of us."
"What's the meaning of this?"
"Send her away."
"Let's get back to business!"
"Wait, wait!" Mr Ages called to the group. "She has been to see the Great Owl! He has told her that we could move the Brisby home to safety."
"Her home was Jonathan's home" Justin added in not moving.
"We have urgent problems of our own."
"Let the lower creatures fend for themselves!"
