Your body flew in the air. You saw the trapeze and almost, ALMOST got it. And then, your sight turned upsite down and you felt that you were falling. You tried to catch something, anything, to protect your body from violent meeting with the ground. It was supposed to be your best perfonmance. The audience was full of people who travelled here from far. Instead of breath taking show, they got to see the fall of one of the biggest circus stars.
You shook your head, wanting to get rid of these thoughts. The real thing you should focus on, should be much simpler. You really had to go to the bathroom and wash yourself. It was so casual thing, but it consumed almost all your energy, so you've done it only when you needed. For example before interviews. But recently reporters lost interest in you.
You were left alone, to deal with the overwhelming weight of your loss. Your parents also worked in circus, so you spent your whole life, performing. And now, it was all gone.
You sighed and looked at your legs. You were currently lying on bed. A moment agk you finished reading a book. You wanted to put it back in the shelf. Simple action. Well, not for you. The shelf was too high to reach it from sitting position.
You punched your left leg, hoping that you'll feel anything, but it didn't last long.
Stupid dreaming.
You muttered to yourself.
Suddenly you felt tears gathering in your eyes.
Someone knocked at your door and it opened. You started thinking intensively who got the key to your door.
Y/N? Are you there?
That voice...
Colette!?
She appeared in the doorframe.
Hi!
She gretted you with a smile. The true one. You also smiled, softly, but at least it wasn't fake.
You should change your locks.
No worries. I don't keep anything important here.
What about yout own safety?
You just gave her a stare, lasting a few seconds.
So... I brought cookies.
Why are you really here?
She was another acrobath. You sometimes performer together. You could call her a friend, but after your accident she stopped showing up so often.
I was at the trip all over Europe.
You nodded and sat in silence.
Is there a chance that you could come back to business?
Spinal cord injury. I have completely lost feeling in my left leg and can barely move my right leg.
I'm so sorry...
Don't! Say! That!
Y/N.
She cupped your cheek to calm you down.
I'm sorry that I was away when you needed me. But now I came back and can help you.
Why?
Because I'm in love with you.
With a cripple like me?
In good and bad times. Even the marriage vows tell about that. I can't count the number of times when you supported me when I was so stressed before shows.
And just like that she became your girlfriend. She came to you everyday, bringing snacks. Thanks to her, you gained the courage to go out on wheelchair.
Once, she told you about very important show.
It will be near your house and I think you being there would help me so much.
But you kept declining her.
It was the night when she was supposed to perform. She left, trying not to cry.
Time skip
You stood in the door, shadow covering you. You tried your best to not breath heavily. Coming here, using crutches, instead of wheelchair costed you a huge amount of energy, but you hated the thought of seeming too vulnerable.
You watched Colette, that was sitting, already dressed in her costume, listening to someone from the staff. She seemed like a godness. Why did she choose you?
Finally she spotted you and a huge smile appeared on her face.
Y/N!
She stood up, not caring about her apperance and ran to hug you. Even though her excitement, she was carefull not to push you on the ground.
You came here.
She took your face in her soft hands.
Of course love.
Soem of the people turned to look at you after hearing what you said, but you didn't care. You pulled her into a kiss.
Good luck my dear!
You shouted, as she ran to the exit, because the show was supposed to start in a few moments.
You watched the whole thing from behind. You squezzed the crutches so hard that your knuckles were white. You weren't very religious, but you prayed for everything going according to the plan.
After it finished, she ran to you.
You succed!
Of course! With an angel like you, watching over me failing wasn't even an option.
Your cheeks turned red, but you smiled and kissed her once again.
I really like to write, but recently I feel like I could do it better. Even when I try my best, I get a feeling that's not good enough. I kinda feel bad about it because it's supposed to bring me and readers joy.
But that doesn't mean I'm gonna give up. I hope you enjoy reading this book ❤️
