—(Chapter One)—

It was a warm summer morning in London England as you walked into the National Art Gallery a block away from the hotel you had stayed in the night before.

You walked into the building, feeling the breeze of the nice cool conditioning. You searched for a while looking at some of the statues, models, and artifacts.

But you wanted a souvenir from your small adventure, so you searched for the gift shop.

As you looked for the Egyptian gift shop a rushed man with a box of small toy pyramids bumped into you making you both fall to the floor immediately-

Clink! Clank! Clang!

-and the tiny pyramids scattered on the floor.

"Sorry, my apologies, Miss!" The man gulped as he helped you up, he seemed worried.

As you stood up, you saw the man. He had beautiful dark brown curls.

"M-Miss did you hear me?" The man stuttered.

"Oh-uh-no, sorry what did you say?" You said trying to hide the embarrassment laced through your voice.

"Are you alright?" He repeated, scrambling to put the toy pyramids back into the box he was holding.

"Oh yeah!" You reassured still embarrassed.

He stood up with the box in his hands.

"Do you know where the gift shop is?" You asked shyly.

"Yeah!" The man said. "In fact I actually work there." He pointed to his name tag.

It said: Steven.

"Oh......cool.....would you mind showing me the way?" The awkward question slipped out again.

"Yeah, of course!" The man supposedly named Steven seemed happy about it.

You walked together to the gift shop through the building.

"Wanna hear a joke?" Steven questioned, expecting to be rejected.

"Sure." You smiled.

He was a little taken-a-back that you would actually listen to his joke.

"Why can't Egyptian crocodiles get through the five stages of grief?" He started.

"Umm...I don't know, why?" You asked.

"Because they keep getting stuck in de Nile." He said as you burst out into laughter which made him giggle.

"My joke wasn't even that funny?" He chuckled nervously.

"I know, it wasn't funny at all, but I can't stop laughing!" You said between giggles.

As you caught your breath the laughing turned into awkward Silence. You continued walking down the long open hallways toward the gift shop.

————————(In Steven's mind)——————

who is this girl?

I can't keep my eyes off her, it's so disrespectful of me...
"Hey."
But she's so gorgeous.
"Hey!"
Why did she laugh at my joke?
"HEY!!"
No one laughs at my jokes.
—————————————————————

"HEY!" You called confused, wondering why the man was staring into the distance.

Finally you waved your hand in his face and got him to snap out of the daze that he was in.

"Oh p-pardon me, I didn't know we were here already!" He said looking at you again.

"It's okay." You said with a relived expression.

You slowly walked away from him going to the gift shop, before turning around again.

"Hey, your names Steven, right?" You smiled.

"Oh-uhm-yep, yeah, that's me. Steven Grant." He stumbled on his words.

"I'm Y/n, nice to meet you, Steven." You introduced yourself.

He was still looking at you with big brown puppy dog eyes, unintentionally.

"What's your number?" You quickly asked.

"What number?" He furrowed his eyebrows as he twiddled with the edge of the box he was still holding.

".....Oh, my phone number!" He realized as he pulled a note card out of his jacket pocket.

He scribbled his phone number down on the small paper before handing it to you.

"H-Here you go!" He smiled.

"See you, Steven." You smiled back before going into the gift shop.

Steven couldn't form words as he stood there so he just waved goodbye and continued his way to work.

All day he thought about it. No women had ever shown any real interest in him, he was smiling about it all day...
