⩩ 3RD PERSON POV
- EVERYONE -The windows of the car were open and the radio was on. Miyoung looked out the window in silence, enjoying the wind that flew through her hair. She would finally have no more trouble with her stupid father. Sunoo nodded his head to the music while Jay was concentrating on the road with a cigarette in his mouth. Jungwon and Jake nearly choked from the smoke.
In the trunk, there was an even greater silence. No one looked at each other and each did their own thing. Hyewon sat addicted to her mobile taking selfies, while Sunghoon did nothing but sleep on Heeseung's shoulder. Riki was continuously playing games on his toy phone that he got once and Haneul, she was busy searching through her bag.
She took out her box of pills and again her bottle of water. The headache started again. Instead of taking just one pill this time, she then took three. She swallowed before looking around at the rest to make sure they weren't on to her. It was scary for her, sitting among strangers taking her painkillers. Would they now judge her just for taking painkillers? It wouldn't be...
Miyoung leaned her head back. "I hear something like pills. Is it drugs?" She asked, again tone deaf. If there was anyone who could win a medal for the most monotonous talking it was her.
With a caught feeling, Haneul quickly put the pills back in her bag and stuffed the three previously taken into her coat pocket. "No drugs," She replied shortly.
"Damn," Miyoung sighed and then looked out the window again. She suddenly felt someone's hand on her thigh. She looked up and saw nothing but Jungwon's hand on her leg. "What," Miyoung whispered.
"You're not going to get addicted to drugs too, are you? You just got rid of your addiction to alcohol," Jungwon whispered back, concerned.
Miyoung the corners of her mouth formed a small smile. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
Jay looked in the rearview mirror at Haneul and then saw her rubbing her head. He knew she had a headache. He swallowed before speaking, "Just take it, no one is going to judge you for it."
Haneul was startled and looked at Jay, who gave a comfy smile. She gulped before grabbing the pills from her jacket pocket, a bottle of water and swallowing the pills.
Hyewon stared the entire time at how the girl swallowed her pills. "Painkillers for what? Your sore ass from sitting in the trunk on hard pavement?" She said and then shot into laughter. Haneul bit her lower lip in stress.
Again, someone passing judgment on her when they don't even know her well enough to know why she carries painkillers.
Riki turned his head toward Hyewon in disbelief. "Why are you such a bully?" He asked.
"She always has been," Miyoung spoke up.
Hyewon scoffed before rolling her eyes. "Says the one who-"
"Let's not fight now," Heeseung said softly, but loudly enough so everyone could hear. "Sunghoon is sleeping."
"What a sleepyhead, doesn't he sleep enough at home?" Riki asked, but for Heeseung and Hyewon, that landed in the wrong place.
"Who's the bully now, huh?" Hyewon scoffed in disbelief.
"I didn't even say anything bad!"
"Children, children, children!" Jake interrupted the argument. "If there's one more fight we'll put you straight in the car even though we've been on the road for 4 hours and we're in the middle of nowhere!"
Everyone in the trunk except Sunghoon looked outside and indeed saw that they were in the middle of nowhere. Tall pine trees surrounded the narrow road through the forest. The sheet of blue sky at the top of the sky that carried not a cloud could be seen between the tops of the trees and the sun shone silently through the leaves.
Then there was silence in the car, only the radio providing sound. Sunoo looked back over his shoulder and sighed. Ten people who don't get along in one car, that does work.
Hyewon rolled her eyes, once again. (Her eyes will roll out again if it keeps up like this.) But surprisingly, she came up with a plan, which made her smile, mean-spiritedly.
"Watch out!" She yelled very loudly, which startled Jay and made him lose control of the steering wheel. Everyone in the car started screaming, which woke Sunghoon up too. Haneul closed her eyes tightly and put her hands on her ears. Not again...
Jay tried to regain control of the wheel, but it was difficult. The car made little turns from left to right. Hard, Jay pressed the brake with his foot, but he pressed it so hard that the car crashed into the tree. The hood flew open and smoke started coming out.
Hyewon was sitting in the back laughing herself to death. "Haha, loser! Can't even drive a car without crashing!"
"Oh my god SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!" Jay shouted, nearly deafening everyone in the car.
Jake widened his eyes when he saw the smoke. "Guys... All out of the car, now!"
Everyone turned their heads toward Jake. "Why?" Sunghoon asked as he yawned with fatigue. In fact, he was sleeping a moment ago.
"NOW!" Jake shouted without answering the question. Hurriedly, everyone got out of the car. Sunoo ran towards the trunk and opened it. Everyone who was sitting there also slipped out of the car. Everyone quickly ran a few feet away from the car and looked at the sight.
A red car from the 1980s with its hood crashed into the tree where smoke was now coming out. Jay sighed, "My dad wouldn't be happy that I wrecked his car."
Hyewon started laughing again. "Now why did we have to get out of that car, Jake? Nothing really happens so-"
Hyewon was interrupted by a loud bang, startling everyone except Jake, because he saw it coming. The car exploded. With huge orange, reddish flames, the car stood there in fire. All 10 teenagers stood uncomfortably watching the scene.
"This is shit," Miyoung said.
Jay turned his head toward Hyewon. "Did you seriously have to scare me?"
Hyewon shrugged and giggled, causing Heeseung to punch her. "Man up," he whispered.
"What are we going to do now?" Sunoo asked hopelessly. "We're in the middle of nowhere.... Does anyone have a phone with them?" He asked as he looked at the rest of the group.
"Forgot it at school," Miyoung spoke up.
"Still in the car," Jay, Haneul and Jungwon said.
"I have one!" Sunghoon said cheerfully. Everyone turned their heads toward Sunghoon in gladness. The boy smiled as he took his phone out of his pocket, but when he looked at his phone, his smile dissolved in a second. "The battery is dead..."
Haneul groaned and threw her head back. "Well, what now?" She asked.
"Walk through the woods then in the hope that we'll run into something?" Jungwon suggested, which made everyone nod.
"But if I fall down due to my weak legs, you may carry me," Riki whined before taking the first step into the woods, which made the rest follow.
Hoping they would come across something, safely, without dying.
