Draco's POV and new chapter

The next morning at breakfast, I saw Harry looking at me, and I smirked back at him, making him blush and turn away.

It really was too easy to fluster him. I sipped my drink. It tasted sweeter than usual. Frowning, I drank the rest, setting it down and going to class.

Harry's POV

"You know, we really should be focusing more on who this new enemy is," Hermione said to me and Ron as we were walking to class. It wasn't a double block, so I wouldn't be seeing malfoy.

It was transfiguration. "You know, we only have one more day left to finish the potion, you must be happy to be almost rid of Malfoy" Hermione said, obviously still trying to figure out what was going on between me and Malfoy.

"Yeah, he's being so annoying I can't wait to be rid of him" I said, trying to force disgust into my words.

Hermione nodded along with Ron.

"It's not like the person responsible for this left many clues." Hermione said. "We should head to class, we'll look for clues later" she grabbed my wrist, pulling me towards the class we were going to, Ron hurrying after us.

I wasn't actually sure what class it was that we were going to, once i thought about it.

It turned out that we were going to transfiguration. it wasn't a shared class with the Slytherins, and as usual, i had no one to sit with.

I wished I could sit with Draco, but we were still pretending to be enemies, so that wouldn't work out so well, and ever since announcing they were a couple, heaven forbid Ron and Hermione were separated.

It would be so easy to be a couple with someone from the same house as yourself, I observed, watching Hermione laugh at something Ron said and kiss him. Nobody cared. Nobody so much as batted an eyelash towards the lovebirds.

I sighed. I knew I could never do that with Draco. I could never just lean in and kiss him without attracting stares, and probably worse.

It wasn't just that we were from different houses though. We were enemies. No one would ever expect me and Draco to ever, in a million years, be together.

Everyone expected two people from the golden trio to be together, even though no one was sure which two. It was most likely to be Hermione and Ron, and me and Ginny. Sure, Ginny wasn't a part of the golden trio, but she was a respectable, and pretty Gryffindor.

Another thing. The most important thing. Malfoy is a dude, and I am too.

Hermione and Ron are a perfectly straight couple, and Malfoy and I... we weren't. I was supposed to be this perfect golden boy, and I guessed that everyone drew expected me to be straight as a ruler. Maybe even homophobic.

The thoughts swirled in my mind, making me worry. Class seemed to drag on, even though the enchantment was weirdly easy for me- turning wood carvings to life- to do.

Most of the carvings were animals, but a couple were- weirdly- precious objects, like some crystals or pieces of gold or silver. I don't actually know if they were supposed to be like that.

Maybe it was just people's greediness turning the little pieces of wood into precious things.

I flicked my wand, making an owl appear, looking very confused. "How in the world are you doing that, harry?" Hermione asked, her face red with concentration. Her own piece of wood, a rat, had only its tail transformed. It was very weird to see a rat's tail on a piece of wood.

"I dunno, Hermione, I just... flick my wand" Harry turned a piece of wood into silver "and it's there."

"I wonder if people can make fake money..." Ron said hopefully from the desk behind me.
