Later that day, Diego walked up toward his third son as he saw Carson passed out sleeping on Ryder's lap. He smiled at his two boys. It was sweet that Ryder had loved his younger brother from the moment he was born, and yet he couldn't understand why Kolt hadn't been just as excited when he found out that he was going to be become a big brother. However, he knew that Ryder was so much different from his older brother, who seemed to care little to none about his family.

Diego remembered a bad feeling washing over him in a tidal wave as he watched the birth of his second child, and he still felt nervous about his second born to this day. For a while, he hadn't been quite able to puzzle out why being around Kolt gave him an undeniable sick feeling, but he could say for sure now that there was something off about Kolt. He was different to Jasper, Ryder, Emmett, Carson and Alex. He had always noticed those terror-fuelled sensations, but, as a father to Kolt, he's forced himself to ignore them. He couldn't just silently accuse his own child of having intentions of wrongdoing; he knew trusting one's gut was always heavily advised, but he felt that, in the case of his own son, he shouldn't.

Diego watched as Ryder looked up and saw his father stand at his door pose.

"Hi, Dad," Ryder greeted casually as he looked down at his younger brother and his father walked inside

"I need to talk to you, son," Diego declared, Ryder cocking his head in confusion. "Would you mind?"

"No, I wouldn't mind," Ryder replied. Diego came up to Ryder's bed as he reminded his son what had happened.

The flashback began, the words pouring out of Diego's mouth as he reminded his son of what had happened.

Jasper was ahead of his father and his younger brother Kolt.

"Ahaha!" Jasper laughed as he ran off, hearing the wind whistle by him.

"Jasper, wait for me!" Kolt called out to his older brother as he tried to catch up with Jasper.

"Ahaha! You can't catch me!" Jasper teased  through laugher, looking over his shoulder toward his brother.

"Not fair!" Kolt whined. "You're too fast! Dad, make Jasper slow down!" he demanded, already growing furious.

"Slow down, please, Jasper. I brought you two here to show you the cliff, not a race or goof off," Diego reprimanded his eldest son in a measured tone.

"Sorry, Dad," Jasper said quietly.

"Haha!" Kolt laughted at his older brother.

"Be quiet. You made Dad scold me," Jasper retorted as he begrudgingly slowed to a walk.

"I-I'm sorry, Jasper. I just wanted to be able to keep up so we could play," Kolt said. But he wasn't actually feeling badly. He just wanted Jasper to think he felt bad for him.

"It's not my fault you can't keep up. Learn to run faster!" Jasper spat tauntingly at his brother.

"I'm trying, Jasper! I really am trying!" Kolt insisted in the best whiney voice he could muster, still attempting to manipulate his only older brother.

"That enough from both of you," Diego continue to scold his two kids. "You two are brothers. Brothers should get along, not fight."

"Says who?" Kolt quipped, snickering as he set off running again. Diego rolled his eyes.

"Come back, Kolt. Both of you, don't laugh at each other, and no more racing." Diego turned to his firstborn son.

"Jasper, rather than taunt your brother, why not help him? Teach him to keep up," Diego suggested calmly to Jasper.
