The drive to the restaurant wasn't as far as I thought it'd be. I spent majority of the ride listening to Jhené Aiko and Beyoncé.
When I saw the outdoor string lights glowing in the distance I quickly looked for a place to park, grabbed my purse and made my way towards the entrance.
Once I got to the front of the line the waitress asked me for my name and sat me down at a booth.
After a few minutes, I checked my phone for any new notifications while waiting for Yana. Part of me hoped she didn't stand me up, I spend a lot of gas traveling to this restaurant.
I also wanted to see my bestfriend? I don't know if she still holds that title, though..
Suddenly, a tan hand slips across the table and plops down on the other side of the table. I look up and see Yana's crazy smile and her curly hair in a bob.
My smile widened and I put my phone up.
We stared at each other for a bit, neither one of us knowing what to say. "I'll go first." We both said at the same time.
"Okay, fine." She breathed. "You go first, I want the juicy details on everything."
And so, I gave her a brief about my life. I skipped over the part where my house caught on fire and how I'm living with a firefighter with weird mood swings.
I did however mention a cute guy at a cafe who's name I didn't know. Yes, Harlee the same firefighter, but she didn't need to know that.
Yana told me about how she's married and is planning to have a baby soon, and hey, I'm happy for her.
"So, how's your dating life been?" She asked, taking a sip of her wine. I sighed, "It's been okay."
"I was hoping you'd say that.." She took another sip of her wine. "How would you feel about going on a double date with me and Lorenzo? He has a friend, very good looking if I'd say so myself."
"I mean-" I sighed. "I can't deny that I'd love to go on a date.." Yana sat down her wine. "I hear a but."
"This seems sudden. I'm not sure." Yana nodded, "He's a doctor." She added. My eyes peeled up.
"What kind of doctor?"
Yana smiled.

The date was to take place on Sunday at the same restaurant.
My date was a sexy black man who had two dogs and a cat, was actually a neurosurgeon and lived in a penthouse. He was a little older but a little dust never hurt anybody.
I looked at my watch as me and Yana grabbed our things, it was nine-thirty. I guess we really enjoyed ourselves.
"It was nice seeing you again, Yana." I smiled. "I can't wait to see you on Sunday."
Yana waved and walked towards her car. I went in the opposite direction, I found my car and hoped inside, turning the key in the ignition.
After twenty minutes Harlee's penthouse came into view. I smiled and climbed out, waving towards the lady at the front-desk.
My smile was still on my face when Samatha entered the elevator with a little boy on her hip.
We didn't say much just simple hello's both of us trying not to be rude. Part of me wondered if Harlee had a son, or if he even wanted kids at that.
We both stepped out onto the elevator and I watched as Samatha knocked on Harlee's door. I stood by and watched as the door opened and Harlee stepped out.
