Jin looked up at me, still playing with his wine. He opened his mouth, contemplating his answer. I waited. Because what else could that 'bang bang' and that wink imply?
He decided to just push all of my wrong buttons in one go.
"I still have too much of it left," he joked, his lips curving into a sneaky smile as he then seized the moment to take a long swig of his wine. Eyes subtly glancing up to take in my reaction.
I nodded as I bit my lip. Not giving any.
He might think he's got me, but I have yet to show any weaknesses. My eyes flying to the watch on my wrist, I cleared my throat very casually. "Hm, I think I've had a very long da-"
"Really? What did you do?"
Nosy bastard.
I resisted the urge to flinch on seeing Jin sit up straight in my peripheral vision.
Now that Jin eliminated Bogum from the picture, the next target was clearly me.
Thus, Jin could easily replace the top ranked hitman in Jeo Group.
It's not a secret what Jin wants. Not to me, not to Jin. Or anyone else.
This is just a professional meeting where all hands indiscriminately are off weapons. But some day in the future, someone is gonna be faster than the other. At pulling the trigger. Of course.
Unquestionably.
"I presume you have begun missing me?" I teased, flashing Jin an unnerving smile.
Jin only grinned wickedly in reply as he leaned back in the sofa, manspreading while he purposely kept my gaze.
"Soon." he replied darkly.
My smile remained unwavering and confident as Jin took another sip. Though I wondered why he'd be drinking so much. Something up?
The man was going to get wasted at this point.
A bit careless to be doing that in front of your axiomatic enemy don't you think? But I wasn't stupid to openly attack Jin anytime soon anyhow.
I've got a good strategy. All in good time.
And that night I will spend celebrating with you, Roa-nim.
Candle lights, fairy lights, chocolate cum cheese delights, and long and slow... tongue fights.
Followed by a mercilessly long, sweaty night.
Focus, V.
"Wait. I recall you have a strict code. Never taking the children," Jin noted, "Or the females."
I tilted my head patiently with slightly creased eyebrows. "Or so I do." I agreed.
"I am so intrigued! What changed your mind for your last mission?" Jin raised his eyebrows, faking innocent curiosity like a high school girl ready for the tea. He kept a straight face, following his question with another dig.
"Or did something... change your mind...in this last mission at all?"
I froze. Eyes flickering to see his expression was marred with a cunning spark flashing in his dark irises. Bastard.
What does he know, I wonder. Did he perhaps...? No. Does it matter? He can't lay a finger on me.
No matter how much he tries.
I composed myself expertly as I rubbed my clammy palm against Yeontan's fur, a self-soothing tic I'd picked up from Oyabun.
"The pay was good," I admitted truthfully with a perfect poker face. "Money changes worlds, what is my mind then."
