" I don't accept this relationship "

Gulf was dejected.
Mew held his lover's hand and slightly squeezed for showing support.

Gulf's father looked at Mew's gesture and continued," however I am willing to give you a chance"
Gulf almost jumped hearing that.

His father looked at Mew straight in the eye and spoke again," I love my son and I don't want him to hurt. Not giving a chance will hurt him. So I am willing.
But I am ready to do that only because of your promises. If ever you hurt him and fail to fulfil your promises then... "

" I meant every word uncle. You won't be disappointed", Mew hurriedly added.

Gulf's father turned to Gulf. His eyes turned kind and the cruelty that was reflecting in them just a few moments ago vanished.

"Gulf you can love whoever you want but I was disappointed that you couldn't talk to me about it. I worry about you son. Parents always want to protect their child. I hope you understand my concern. "

'Mew and dad are so similar. Hell breaks loose when they are angry and so soft and loving with me. No wonder I fell for Mew' Gulf couldn't help but think to himself

" I do dad", he smiled.

Now his father was back to being stern
"And no funny business under my roof", he said pointing his finger at Mew and Gulf

Overjoyed, Gulf went on to hug his father.
His eyes met his mothers who was smiling at them.

All this while his mother didn't utter a word.

"Mom, are you still mad at me?", Gulf asked anxiously.
"'No Gulf. I am not angry with you. I don't entirely accept this but I love you and I don't want you to be sad. So I agree with your father." She said sincerely.
Gulf understood her predicament and hugged her too.

Mew was feeling a bit out of place. He felt like an intruder. He awkwardly asked permission to leave.

"Not so soon!" Mother said with a stern face
"I have to set some rules first"

Both Mew and Gulf were red with embarrassment recalling earlier incident.

" No closing bedroom doors and no kissing in front of elders. Show some respect" she said .

"Don't leave without dinner" Gulf's father added without sparing another glance at Mew.

Mew was pleasantly surprised that Gulf's parents were welcoming after all that happened.

Dinner was very difficult for Mew. He was not used keep his distance from Gulf when Gulf was sitting right next to him.
He was wise enough not to jeopardise his chances with Gulf by doing something stupid in front of his parents again.
So he consciously maintained his distance.

He struggled to refrain from pulling Gulf closer to him or hold his hand or touch his belly or play with his ears or play with his hair which he observed had grown a little longer and needed a cut, or squeeze him in his arms.
'Aargh how can I stop these involuntary hands from touching Gulf through the dinner' He whined to himself.

The only solution was to finish the dinner and get the hell away from here. So he tried to finish his food as fast as he could.

Gulf was secretly enjoying Mew's dilemma.

Finally torture was over and it was time for Mew to leave. But he could not let himself out without kissing Gulf good night.

"Auntie May I have your permission to say good night to Gulf?" Mew asked innocently.

Gulf and his parents couldn't control their laughter and his parents moved inside the house giving them space.

Gulf, struggling hard to control his laughter, hugged a pouting Mew.
"You and your family are so cruel" Mew was still pouting

" and I love you too baby" Gulf pecked his lips
Mew's lips curved up into loveliest smile that Gulf can't get enough of.
" even though I suffered, this was the best night of my life" Mew was content.

3 years later

Mew is a very busy man. He is pursuing his PhD and his studio is doing good though his dad keeps pestering him to join his business

Gulf has joined Mew's father's business as an intern post his graduation. He had enough of studies and wanted to work.

Gulf is now more closer to Mew's family. Mew's dad considered him as his own and wanted to mentor him to take over his business as both of his son, Tong and Mew were Pursuing their own passion.

Mew on the other hand is now closer to Gulf's father. Even though they started on the wrong foot, Mew discovered they had common interest- Music
Mew spoiled his would be father in law with concert tickets and taking him to meet his favourite artists. One can say he bribed him into liking him.

Their families have accepted their relationship. However, there is still trouble in paradise.
They hardly find time in their busy schedules to meet each other.
They are growing strong, always supporting each other sending each other gifts but they hardly meet each other anymore. Sometimes they don't see each other for weeks. It's rare that they even get to spend weekend with each other as Mew has his concerts and shows packed over weekends.

Today was such a rare day.

They were at the beach house again where Gulf first declared to others that he is taken.

They both were enjoying sunset together in a comfortable silence.
"Babe.."
"Yes Mew?"
"Marry me."

Gulf choked on his beer

"You ok babe ?" Mew patted Gulf's back.
"What did you just say?" Gulf was shocked

"Will you marry me?" Mew caressed Gulf's cheeks.

Gulf looked into his eyes to see whether it was a prank.But all he found was love and sincerity.

"Yes.... " Gulf blushed and hugged Mew

"let's stay together for a long time" Gulf whispered

"No.. let's stay together Forever" Mew corrected him

Gulf chuckled, " yes.. Forever..." Gulf whispered back.
