I got in the lounge and everyone spoke at once. I raised my hands and everyone went silent.

Mom: Let today be the last day she cries because of you
Uncle Sandile: Ngasho ngathi let live a little nathini nina? Bukani manje
Grandpa: Well its looks like she likes you

Luyanda: No girl will put herself through that dinner and has zero feelings for you
Dad: I agree with them
Me: What if she not the one?
Everyone was silent.
Grandma: Did I tell you how your mom got that portrait?
We all turned around as grandma narrated the story for a 100 time.
Me: She saw my markings
The whole room was silent.
Mom: Half or all of them
Me: All of them mom. She saw them
Dad: And what you said?
Me: I asked her to explain what she sees and she told me what she sees and it as it is.
Sizani: Is that meant for your intended only

Dad: Than she is the one. My mom smiled and walked to me grinning hugging me.
Mom: Am so happy. Am getting another daughter

Dad: So?
Me: we to young for this
Mom: I was young when I married your dad

Grandma took out her ring from her finger.
Grandma: for when you ready.
I looked at her shocked.
Grandma: If been married for 62 years. Best 62 years of my life. With that ring I hope its gets to see 62 more years. I looked at the ring and smiled at her hugging her.
Me: Thank you. Goodnight guys.
I turned and left them and walked into my room and showered.

Cape Town
I walked in the police station for a 100th time this year.
Me: Am here to speak to detective Thwala
I was than directed to his office and I walked in and found him having donuts and coffee and somehow that made me super angry.
" My daughter has been missing over a year now and you are sitting there stuffing your face and not once have we had any feedback in regards to where my freaken child is!!"
Thwala: Sbongile
Me: do not Sbongile me. What are you doing to find my daughter.
Thwala: look I know you angry and frustrated but we are doing all we can to find her but she was 18. Half her clothes were missing and her important documents and she created a passport months before she disappeared. The last whereabouts are in California and we have sent everything about her that side and they working on finding her. When I find her and I know i will. You will be the first to know.
I sat on the chair and I felt like my world is crashing. Yes I wasn't the best mother in the world but to my horror when I came home after years of sending money thinking my child is taken care off only to find the opposite. The horror stories iv heard from the community was awful. This is too much. I need to call her father. I know he is a married man and we promised not to ever talk about this but I have to go there and speak to him. Get his investigators to help me find my daughter. I left the office after thanking Detective Thwala and got in my car and drove off to the Parliaments offices.
Me: Minister of Agricultural farming please!
Receptionist: do you have an appointment
Me: Tell him its about Raya his daughter.
I sat by the chair waiting for him as I saw his secretary rush to his office and few minutes later I was walked in to the room and I stood there looking at Steven Rupert. The only man that iv ever loved or care for.
Steven: Sibongile Nomazwi Cawa
Me: Steven Rupert
Steven: 20 years later and here we are
Me: Raya
Steven: That what you named here?
Me: Yes
Steven: you hated my grandmother
Me: and I got a child that looked exactly like her.
He smiled and I noticed he wasn't wearing his wedding ring anymore
Me: hows linda?
Steven: died 12 years ago car accident
Me: am sorry
Steven: Thank you, how can I help? You want money?
Me: She missing
Steven: what you mean she missing?
Me: exactly that. My daughter has been missing over a year now and I have no idea if she is dead or alive.
I don't know where my tears were coming from but I was crying and my heart was shattering into small pieces.

Raya
I heard him get in bed and I turned and I was looking into his eyes as he looked into mines.
Siya: Thought you sleeping
Me: I can't sleep thinking about your family
Siya: Sorry
Me: Why me?
He was quiet for some time and looked at me.
Siya: Why not you?
Me: You cannot answer a question with a question.
Siya: when am with you I find myself calmer. All the inner outrageous emotions that I have in me disappear. When I look at you I see a bright future. A life. I think beyond just now and living for now.
Me: You the king for the future of this beautiful land
Siya: And I don't see anyone else but you. Look iv never been with a woman in my life. Never like anyone or even been interested in anyone until a year ago when you walked in my class smiling at your friend. That day I never heard a thing that was said and I spent 365 days trying my best to take you off my mind until a month ago when you messed my top.
That took me back a little.
Me: You saw me a year ago? And you kept quiet
Siya: Am not much of a talker plus am hopeless in this genre
Me: A whole year???
Siya: Yes a whole year.
I looked at him shocked and he smiled.
Siya: It worked cause now here we are
Me: You crazy.
Siya: I know.
Me: Where does this leaves us?
Siya: You my girl!
I looked at him as he grinned.
Me: Am your girl?
Siya: I thought I made it clear when I let you wash my top and fly you all over the world to come meet my crazy family that you my girl.
That shock my world a bit.
Me: Am Your girl?
Siya: Now and forever.

I watched her blush and that warmed my heart. I think this is the time. I rolled over to the side of the bed and took my grandmother modified ring and rolled over and looked at her bright eyes.
Me: I don't care what you been told before in your life cause that not you. I don't care where you come from because I know where we heading. I know iv never said I love you and am not even going to say it now but I know in the depths of my heart that I do.
I took out my grandmother ring.
Me:  this is my grandmother ring. For 62 years iv watched her cherish that gem stone and iv watched my dad modify it a few times with times changing. A piece of that gem was given to my mom to make her ring and now. Today my grandmother gave me this for you. I hope its carries us through another 62 years and I hope its a constant reminder of how You, me and I will have each other back from today till the day we take our last breath. So Raya uwase Cape Town. Will you do me the honours of being my best friend, partner but mostly my wife and a mother to our future kids?.....
