Nighttime was the only time when the counselors could really be themselves. During the day, it was their job to take care of the kids. That meant putting aside all 'normal' feelings and becoming the happy, social camp counselor that kids would love. But at night? That was the best part of camp, for some.
It was at night when (Y/N) confessed his affection for Dylan. He didn't mean to. He had been rambling about something... He didn't even remember what. Then suddenly, he mumbled how much he liked Dylan. Dylan didn't even get to say anything before (Y/N) quickly ran off, too embarrassed to deal with what he just said.
But the next night, Dylan sought (Y/N) out. (Y/N) had started apologizing, muttering how he didn't want to ruin their friendship. Dylan cut him off with a kiss. After that, the two began to date. A 'summer fling,' as Emma would say. But both felt like it was more than that. They avoided talking about what would happen after camp, but they hoped the two would still remain together. If not that, at least stay in touch.
There was a week remaining at camp. There were mixed emotions from everyone. The kids were excited to be back home, but they knew they would miss the camp and their friends. The counselors were ready to take on the next chapter of their life, but they would miss the relationships they built while they were here. This was the last time they might ever see each other again. It was sad to think about, for most at least.
Dylan had asked (Y/N) at lunch to meet him at the docks. And, as usual, (Y/N) was there before Dylan. No matter what, Dylan always seemed to be late to everything. Mr. Hackett had actually yelled at him a couple of times, but Dylan never seemed to learn.
(Y/N) leaned on the light post, looking out over the water. It was so peaceful here. During the day, it was filled with screaming kids. But at night... It was a totally different place. (Y/N) was never really one for nature, he preferred staying inside, but this place made him change his mind.
(Y/N) heard something creak behind him and looked towards the noise. It was Dylan, who grinned as soon as their eyes met. "You finally came," (Y/N) said, a hint of annoyance in his tone.
"That's what she said," Dylan replied, unable to control him.
"Ugh," (Y/N) groaned, rolling his eyes. Though, a small smile was on his face.
"Come on! You can't say 'you came' and expect me not to say that!" Dylan defended himself, walking up to (Y/N). He held his arms open, waiting for the other.
"You're so immature, Dylan," (Y/N) said, wrapping himself in the arms of the other man.
"Aww, you love it," Dylan teased, giving (Y/N) a kiss on his temple.
The two stayed like this for a moment. (Y/N) was never really one for affection, and too much made him feel awkward, so he pulled away. It took a while to convince Dylan that he didn't hate affection. It was just his brain being weird. "So, why'd you say to meet here?"
"What, I can't just want to meet my wonderful boyfriend somewhere beautiful like the lake?" Dylan answered him.
(Y/N) could read him like a book. "You want to go swimming, don't you?"
"Maybe..."
(Y/N) rolled his eyes playfully, smiling. "I knew it."
"Pretty please?" Dylan begged, clasping his hands together. He attempted a 'puppy dog' look, trying his hardest to convince his boyfriend.
(Y/N) thought for a moment. One one hand, they would be wet, and that would be hard to explain in the morning... On the other hand, why not? They only had a week left together. "Alright. Why not?"
