⚠️ It's time to BeReal. ⚠️

alex and i had finished shopping for our upcoming trip to italy. we were sitting in a cafe, waiting for our drinks to be prepared.

he was sat to my left, tapping his right foot to the beat of the music playing overhead. he was scrolling through twitter to pass the time.

i was also on my phone, but i was scrolling through instagram. my shoulder was leaning against his as we waited. at our feet were the bags from our little shopping spree.

as we waited and scrolled, a notification revealed itself at the top of my screen.

⚠️ It's time to BeReal. ⚠️
2 min left to capture a BeReal and see what your friends are up to!

i gasped and hurried to open the app. alex was unfazed by my antics. he's used to me by now.

finally, the app loaded. my phone's back camera opened and a timer is counting down the time i had left
1 min 42 seconds and counting.

i whipped my camera towards alex and said his name to grab his attention. he turned his head. this resulted in his face being way too close to the camera.

"what?" he asked.

"it's the be real! say cheeeese!" i said.

he looked into the lens and gave me a goofy little smile. i took the photo and held my phone up to take a selfie with the front camera.

the photos loaded and were posted for my friends to see. as i looked through their photos from the pre cloud 2 minutes, alex picked up our drinks, which had received announced.

alex ordered a tea. i got a latte. i always tease him a bit because of his go to order. he always blames his job, but i think he just can't handle the taste of coffee.

he presents me with my latte and i graciously take it. both of us sip on our hot beverages and finish what we were doing on our phones.

feeling ready to keep walking around and shopping, we grab our bags and stand up from the bench.

"ready to go?" alex asks me as i slowly stand up.

"yup!" i say.

"where to next?" he asks as we walk out of the coffee shop and leave behind the sound of brewing espresso and steaming milk.
