"REX ORANGE COUNTY"
"SOLD OUT"

the marquee read out alex's name. i just can't believe he sold out the radio city music hall.

today was the day before his show. him and the band were sound checking and running through the show.

as for me, i was in and out of the theater all day. when alex is on tour, i act as his personal assistant and tour photographer. it's really nice because i can stay involved with tour and be able to see my boy perform and i'm still doing something that i love - concert photography.

during the day, i run errands and grab the guys lunches and occasionally buy clothes when they inevitably forget to do laundry. i swear- these men throw around money like it's nothing! during show nights, i take photos of alex's set. i like to only cover the last half because that is when he's more comfortable on stage and with the fans and it shows in photos.

this afternoon's rehearsal was super low key and quiet. as evening fell, the crew wrapped up preparations for tomorrow's show. everyone had different plans for dinner, so alex and i finally got to have a date night <3

he was excited because we were in new york city. this city is one of his favorite places. as everyone packed up their stuff, i saw he was already searching for hole in the wall italian restaurants.

finally, me and alex and the band and the crew were ready to head out for the night. as we stepped foot into the city that never sleeps, we received a dusting of raindrops. i didn't know rain was in the forecast.

we had called a couple tacos to take all of us back to the hotel, but they wouldn't arrive for a few more minutes. the boys decided to go stand in the middle of the sidewalk and face the grey skies with their tongues out.

"we have bottled water if you are that thirsty." i called after them with amusement in my eyes. touring takes a lot out of everyone - especially alex and the guys. it was nice to see them relax and enjoy themselves, even if it was only for a moment.

alex looked over at me with a huge grin. he eats moments like this up. it's his favorite part of touring with his best friends. they get to be idiots like this in cities around the world.

"nothing beats fresh rainwater!" he answered. i chuckled and shook my head as he resumed catching raindrops on his tongue with his friends. i took my camera out and got some shots of the group acting like children in the middle on new york city.

the taxis we had called finally pulled up to the curb outside the venue. alex and the band noticed and came over to help load the few bags we had into the cars.

alex got into the backseat of the first taxi, but i was taking my time in joining him. apparently i was taking too much time because he rolled down the taxi window and said "cmon! i'm starving! i just found this place over on 22nd and their website says 'best meatballs in the city'!"

"okay! i know i know. i'm hurrying." i told him. i walked over and handed him my backpack through his open window.

that was when i noticed his damp hair from standing out in the rain. the ends of his hair were starting to curl from the moisture. i giggled to myself at how cute he looked.

i took a step back from the car and asked him, "how's my form?" i copied his actions from a few minutes earlier. with my face towards the sky and my tongue out, i glance over at him. he's laughing and attempting to cover his eyes.

he's shaking his head as he says "get in here before you're soaked." in saying that, he must have realized the irony because he pulled his hood up as if to hide his already wet hair.

"alright. hold on. you're too cute right now." i tell him as i take my camera out again and quickly snap a photo of him watching me through the taxi window.

i hurry over and clamber into the taxi. as much as i hate to admit it, he's right. my hair is now wet and, at this point, we both had to freshen up in the hotel room before we left for dinner.

we shared a quick, but sweet kiss as the car pulled away from the curb. i laced my fingers in his and watched the city pass by outside the car window.

i squeeze his hand three times.

i
love
you

he returned with four squeezes.

i
love
you
more

we both settled into watching out our respective windows as skyscrapers slipped past into the dreary night.

i was my turn to soak up the moment. i was in a big, exciting city with my best friend doing what i love. i couldn't ask for a better life.
