Zephren is 6 years old. He likes to explore his mansion with his servants in the mornings. One game he especially likes is hide-and-seek. The mansion is so big, so usually no one can find him. At least none of his servants can. But, at around noon, his father somehow always spots him. Then the father would read him stories of heroic mages. He would also brag about how he himself is one of the few mages in this town and how awesome being a mage is.

The father usually finishes his story time around 2 pm and leaves the mansion at 3 pm. Zephren would play with the servants again until dinner time. At one particular dinner, as Zephren is eating, he suddenly gets a headache. However the pain disappears as soon as it appears.

The headache is one of the weirdest headaches Zephren ever had. It makes feel like he is forgetting something and he has to do something about it. He feels the urge to get stronger. He looks to his father and says, "Dad, teach me magic!"

For some reason the mood feels weird after he asks that question. Zephren's father seems hesitant to say anything. His mother glares at his father. "Rimis Zolunder."

"Y-yes." Remix chokes on his answer. His wife doesn't normally use his full name unless he's in trouble.

"Have you been telling Zeph stories? Stories about mages?" The mother says this with a smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes.

"Yes... I have been telling stories about mages but the stories I mainly tell are about your heroic deeds as a knight of the imperial castle. Right Zephy?" He hopes his son will back him up in his lie.

Zephren is confused as he has never heard about how his mother is a knight. So he asks, "Mom is a knight?"

"How can you forget?! Don't you remember how I told you about the time mommy fend off a rogue dragon by herself?"

Zephren's interest is pique because of this new story. "I never heard this story. Tell me more!"

"Uh... Yes. So the story goes..." As Rimis is telling the story, he occasionally peeks at his wife. But she just silently eats her food. She is sulking because they had decided to not interfere with Zephren's decision on whether he becomes a mage or a knight. However, it seems that her husband has been telling many mage stories behind her back.

The mother seems to have stopped sulking after dinner. She ushers Zephren to come with her. "Zephy, I have something cool to show you." She is probably going to show off one of her skills to Zephren. Remix thinks that this is unfair and can persuade Zephren to become a knight. "Celia–" he tries to call out to her but one glare from her is enough for him to close his mouth. She is an imperial knight and is a lot stronger than him. Of course she would never hurt her own family members but she is kind of crazy when it involves her child Zephren.

Celia brings Zephren to the beach. She faces the sea and unsheathes her sword. She injects mana into the sword causing it to glow blue. She lightly swings the sword towards the sea. The water parts as if the sea is split into two.

The sea stays apart even after the sword strike. Some of the water that is evaporated from the strike turns into mist. The mist creates a light rainbow. These effects make Zephren's mother look really dignified in his eyes. But the next moment–

"How's that Zephy? Aren't I awesome? That's what you can do if you become a knight." She starts gloating like a child in front of Zephren.

Suddenly, Zephren's headache resurfaces. His vision blurs for a second before a blue screen comes into view. The contents of the screen is–
