LEIF

Leif was horrified.

In approximetly five minutes, he would fall asleep. And when he woke up in excactly 24 hours?

He would have his wolf.

Zane often described it like he had a devil over his shoulder or a ghost haunting him.

"Yeah, sometimes I can even see it. It's like, a person in my mind. He's annoying and I call him Josh." Zane had said earlier that day, after breakfast.

"Josh? Isn't that your cousi-" Leif had started, but Zane covered his mouth.

"Sssssssssh! No one has to know that! They just have... similar personalities." Zane had smirked.

"I thought you said you hated the wolf!"

"Who said I don't hate Josh?" Zane had chuckled.

"Oh my God, Zane." Leif had laughed.

Leif sighed. He watched his clock.

Four minutes...

12: 56. Almost 1:00.

11 was his sister's favorite birthday.

Like her 11th birthday the year earlier.

"See? I got a phone! 1 is so my lucky number!" Ginger had squealed, bragging to her brother.

"Yeah, and I got one when I was thirteen." Leif had grumbled.

"Yeah, I'm better!" Ginger had smirked, throwing a pillow at her brother's face.

"Ginger!" Leif had yelled, standing up and glaring at his small sister.

"Whoopsies!" Ginger had giggled and sprinted out of Leif's room, with Leif chasing her. Ginger was fast, almost faster than Leif, and sprinted down the stairs. Leif had almost fallen on the stairs and Ginger ran out of the house, giggling.

Leif fidgeted. The clock changed again..

Three minutes.

12: 57...

7 was a lucky number.

Like when he and Ezra were looking for four-leaf clovers and they couldn't find one.

"Ezraaaa!" 7-year-old Leif had sighed, "Do you see one?"

"No.." Ezra had said, crossing his arms, "I thought ma and pa said that leprachauns hid them on St. Patricks day!"

"Yeah. And today is St. Patricks day! Right...?" Leif had said, tilting his head.

"Mhm, I think so!" Ezra had said, a frown appearing on his face.

Leif and Ezra had sat there for a moment, wondering where a four-leaved clover would be.

"Oh!" Leif had squealed, perking up. "I bet there's one at the end of the rainbow!"

"Oooooooh!" Ezra had said, smiling as he sat up. "Yeah!"

Long story short, the boys had tried to walk to the end of a rainbow, but ended up almost dying from a bunch of angered rogues. Leif chuckled as he thought of how scared he and Ezra had been, but how it made them so much closer.

Oh, and it ended up being the day before St. Patrick's day.

Leif bit his lip. The clock changed yet again..
