I was woken up by a knock on the door at 2 AM. I reluctantly got out of bed to answer it. When I opened the door, I was met with a very upset Ms Venable. "Is everything alright Ms Venable?" I asked.
She shook her head, "may I come in?" she asked. I stepped aside to let her in. "I wanted to apologise for my behaviour earlier. How is your back?" she asked.
"Stings like a bitch" I chuckled. "I'm so sorry Y/N" she shook her head.
"You look like you've been crying, are you alright?" I asked her. She took a deep breath. "Do you know why you're here Y/N?" she asked. I shook my head.
"You are here... because of me" she whispered. My eyes widened. I just didn't believe her. "What do you mean?" I asked in confusion.
"That day, when you found me yelling at another employee... I was already in a foul mood. I know that doesn't excuse my behaviour towards both of you but I had just found out that the world was going to end and that I would be the leader of this outpost" she said, taking my hands in hers.
"But that doesn't explain why I am here" I said, shaking my head. "I'm getting there" she chuckled. I nodded my head as she continued, "I told them I wouldn't do it unless you came with me" she said.
"Me? But why?" I asked, I just couldn't understand why she would want me here with her. "I have been denying my feelings" she said as she let go of my hands and looked away. "Wilhemina" I whispered. "What feelings" I asked.
"My feelings for you" she sighed. My heart skipped a beat. "Me? Why me?" I asked her nervously. "You are different Y/N! How could I not like you" she chuckled as a tear slipped down her cheek.
"But that doesn't explain why you would punish me the way you did before" I stated. "I was scared! I knew that if I started acting nice to you or treating you different from the others, questions would be asked. And I didn't want to scare you away" she sighed.
I took her chin in my hand and forced her to look at me. "You would never scare me away" I whispered.
"Y/N" she said quietly. "Yeah?"
"Teach me how to love" she whispered, breaking down into tears. "May I hug you?" I asked, and she nodded.
I pulled her into my arms and let her cry it out. She soaked my pyjama top but I didn't care. The woman just needed someone to be there for her, and I was willing to be that person.
She tightened her grip, which made me flinch because of my back. "I'm sorry" she said, pulling away quickly. "It's okay Mina" I smiled.
"Mina? I like that" she smiled back, making me blush. "Can I stay with you tonight? I just want to make sure you're okay" she whispered. I looked at her, taking in every detail of her perfect face. "Of course, you can" I smiled. "Thank you" she whispered, pulling me back into a hug.
