TRIGGER WARNING: this chapter contains mentions of underage drinking, talks of transphobia and severe bullying and internalized homophobia (though it's made out to be more comedic)
'is something wrong, sonic?'
'yes. i mean, no. nothing's wrong. everything is just fine. peachy.' sonic said, trying to ignore the pit in his stomach.
'i highly doubt that.'
'pfft. what? no. everything's fine.'
in reality everything was not 'fine'. something in him just knew that amy had somehow found out about him getting drunk. she was, in short, going to kill him. his brain felt honestly fried and he was not going to survive the 3 hour long ass lecture that was probably waiting for him.
shadow must have noticed the anxious fidgeting he was doing with his sports tape because he gave a deep sigh before speaking:
'we can go deeper into the woods. i know this place well so we won't get lost.'
'last time, and frankly anytime you see me, you either say you're going to kill me or try to do so. why are you trying to help me?' sonic said, suprised.
'some things are better left unspoken for now hedgehog. now, are you going to face your friends or come with me?'
sonic looked around in defeat as the voices calling out to him got closer.
'fine.'
'then hold my hand.'
'what?'
'just do it.'
—————————
'sonic!' amy called out again.
'sticks, not to judge your, uh, nose, but are you sure sonic was here? we're like sorta really deep in the woods right now.'
'my nose never fools me. plus, it still reeks of alcohol so we're definitely going the right way. you guys don't smell it?'
'not really.' knuckles said.
as soon as the sun rose, amy had gotten everyone together to search for sonic.
she was quite worried for him, her anger right now could wait. being drunk meant sonic was vulnerable and shadow probably had a place somewhere in the forest near the village which meant that there was a high chance shadow had found sonic. and she had witnessed for herself what had happened the last time those two met. so it was safe to say, she was worried out of her mind.
priority number one right now was making sure sonic was okay. she could lecture him later.
'told you we were close.' sticks said, pointing to a cave which appeared to have been lived in.
'what is this place?' tails asked as they entered the cave.
'seems like some sort of home, or shelter. sticks, what do you smell?' amy said, taking a good look at her surroundings.
'well alcohol.' sticks said pointing to the bottle on the floor. 'and also, sonic and… lavender?'
sticks stared at the ground in an unusual manner, seemingly lost in thought.
'lavender? there must be like a plant nearby or something, right?' tails inquired.
'nope. smell's artificial. though it wouldn't surprise me if there was lavender nearby.' sticks said, nonchalant.
tails gave her a strange look, however sticks just stared, an unusual quiet washing over her.
'so, does that mean that someone else might have been in here with him?'
