HANNAH (V.O)
You've heard of the butterfly effect, right? That if a butterfly flaps its wings at just the right time in just the right place...it can cause a hurricane thousands of miles away.
JUSTINS APARTMENT- DAY- PRESENT
Jessica is seen walking up the stairs to get to Justins front door. She knocks and Justins mother opens the door.
JUSTINS MOM (OS): Hold on.
JESSICA: Is Justin here.
JUSTINS MOM: Haven't seen him for days. Thought he was with you.
JESSICA: He told me he was coming home last night.
JUSTINS MOM: Yeah well he didn't.
MOMS BOYFRIEND (OS): Who is it, Am?
JUSTINS MOM: Justin's Friend.
Justin's mother turns around and walks away as her boyfriend goes to talk to Jess.
MOMS BOYFRIEND: Justin's friend huh? Alright when you see him tell him he better get his ass home. His mom's worried for him.
JESSICA: Yeah. She looks it.
She turns away from the man and goes down the stairs, all while the boyfriend watches her walk away.
HANNAH (V.O)
It's chaos theory. But, see, chaos theory isn't exactly about chaos. It's about how a tiny change in a big system can affect everything.
BRYCES HOUSE- POOL HOUSE-DAY- PRESENT
Justin is seen sleeping while something is dripping on his face and Cassie eating a bowl of Frosted Flakes with bananas in it.
When Justin finally realized that water was dipping on him Bryce was laughing and Cassie wasn't even paying attention to what was happening, just wrapped into her own mind.
JUSTIN: Yo. What the fuck.
BRYCE: Dude, time to wakey. I'm rolling in ten, if you two feel like school.
JUSTIN: Oh. Shit. What's with the fucking water?
BRYCE: Just having some fun.
Bryce goes to a shirt laying on the ground and tosses it to Justin while he mimicked Bryce's last words.
BRYCE: Justy, you know you're welcome here. You both are, all the damn time. But I thought you two were headed back last night.
JUSTIN: Yeah. That guy Seth is back.
BRYCE: Little Opeia
CASSIE: Oh. I have multiple reasons. Do I feel like sharing them. No not one bit Bry. But I can promise you I wouldn't be here if I felt like was safe over there.
"What did you mean by that Cassie?" Mrs. Jensen asked.
"I'm a foster kid, Mrs. Jensen." Was all she said turning back to the screen leaving people who didn't know her situation with many questions.
BRYCE: You'd let me know if they did anything right? If you want I can totally kick their ass.
CASSIE: Yeah Bry, I'll let you know.
BRYCE: Back to you Justy. Meth Seth?
JUSTIN: Yeth.
