Inhye frowned at hearing Kangjoon was at her work waiting for her. Asking for them to send someone to escort him up to her dressing room, she is startled when a low voice asks for the staff to leave them alone.

Turning around, Inhye sees Kangjoon standing by the doorway seeming incredibly angry. Or was it hurt?

"What's wrong?" Inhye asked, waiting as he kept silent until the last staff member left the room. "You said there's an emergency?"

"Is it true?" He spoke up, a distinguished look of anguish among his face. "Are you pregnant?"

"Wha- Where did you hear that?" Inhye's breathing hitched as she tried her best to remain calm. She couldn't allow him to find out, he needed to move on. They both did.

"Stop lying to me for once. All you ever do is hide things from me. You were never like this. Do you remember the first time we met? The first thing you told me was about your parents being divorced. I never even asked, you just told me things. Now you tell me nothing." Kangjoon explained. "I told you before, I don't need protecting."

"If you knew anything, you'd never be able to forgive yourself,

the guilt would eat you up. I know you, Joon." Inhye shoo her head, looking down at her lap to avoid eye contact with him.

"What's so bad I can't handle it?" he asked.

"It's true, I'm pregnant but it isn't yours..." Inhye lied, sneaking a peak at his face to see how he was handling it.

He seemed taken aback.

"Who's baby is it?"

"It's the doctor, the therapist one." She admitted falsely, observing how hurt he seemed by this fact.

"I don't believe you. We slept together twice-"

"I was drunk." She cut him off.

"You weren't drunk the second time," he argued back, moving closer to her, forcing her to stand up and back away but it was too late.

She couldn't get away as he placed his arm on either side of her on the dressing room table, his eyes looking up at her pleadingly. He knew she couldn't resist his eyes, they were her weak point.

"Please don't walk away from me, just talk to me. I'm tired of this. Ever since I let you slip away from me that day, I've regretted it. I thought it was for the best but you haven't been the same. I abandoned you and I'm sorry but I won't abandon you this time. If this baby is mine, I'll take responsibility. I'll be the man you want me to be." He sighed.

"I'll become the man you once loved."

"It's not all your fault." Inhye admitted. "It's true, I partially blamed you for what happened that night. I was depressed, I'd lost a part of myself and I couldn't bear the pain or the thought of losing something else so I let you slip away. I didn't want to burden you."

"That night?" Kangjoon frowned, noticing how fragile she had become, the way her eyes flickered and her lips began to quiver. "What night? What happened to you?"

"I think you should sit for this..."

"I don't want to." He protested, reaching for her hand and rubbing it soothingly. "What happened?"

"Do you remember last year, the night I asked you to come home early? I told you I had news to tell you." Inhye began, looking at Kangjoon for confirmation.

"Yeah, the night I went for a drink with the investors. They helped my company a lot." Kangjoon revealed.

"That night I waited for you. I was so worried, I called you and you never answered. I thought you were hurt..." Inhye took a moment to breathe before speaking again. "That night it turned out I was the only one who was hurt. I wanted to tell you that night that I was pregnant."

"You- You were pregnant?" Kangjoon seemed breathless at this revelation. "But you never..."

"I was 3 months along. I was so worried about you that I stressed myself out. I got severe cramps, before I knew it I was on the floor. I called for you but you never answered. So I called the ambulance. The floor... it was so cold. I was so cold that day. I was terrified and alone..."

Kangjoon felt his mouth dry up, his throat began to hurt and his eyes began to sting. He'd realized where she was going with the story.

"That night I bled out. I lost the baby... our baby." Inhye managed out before she felt a tear droplet roll down her cheek painfully slow. She felt Kangjoon's grip loosen up as he stumbled back out of shock, looking away and shaking his head profusely.

"I couldn't stand looking at you, I pulled away from you ever since that night because some part of me blamed you for not being by my side. I was in a dark place, depressed and detached. I didn't want to be around the house so I threw myself into my work, I got a major promotion and from then on we just drifted." Inhye explained, looking at Kangjoon who had now completely broken down.

"I-" He couldn't breathe. She had gone through all of that alone and not once had he ever attempted to understand why she had drifted away from him at that time. Not once did he take notice of her pain or depressed state. "I'm so sorry. I'm really- I should just die... I'm a terrible husband."

"No-"

"I don't know how you ever put up with me after something so traumatic." Kangjoon's breathing became erratic, his vision became blurry as he fell into a panic attack, leaning on any nearby furniture to keep himself up.

"Joon-" Inhye rushed over, reaching out to grab his face.

"Look at me. Concentrate. Follow my lead. Breathe in."

Kangjoon attempted to do as she instructed.

"Breathe out. Breathe in."

"I can't-"

Inhye didn't know what else to do. She had no idea how to stop a panic attack other than breathing techniques. Looking into his eyes, she saw how distraught he truly was. Leaning in she shocked him with a kiss, his breathing halted momentarily due to the shock before becoming more regulated. It seemed to be working.

Pulling away, she looked into his eyes again, giving him a reassuring smile. "I'm okay now." She assured him. "I forgive you and I have forgiven myself. This is my new start. I'm going to look after this baby. Once we divorce, I'm going to move into a new apartment I've found and it's going to be okay."

"Is the baby mine?"

She wanted to lie desperately, to let him go and allow him to live a new life just as she had been given her new start but denying him of his child... it was too cruel.

"It is."
